I was thinking more what is the attraction to come(back) into BAFA football when you are playing in the EoS football and in some/most cases being paid for it albeit not a great deal in some EoS teams, sometimes just a signing on fee and cup bonus. Ok you can play with your mates and hopefully win but isn't there a sense of under achieving when you know you should be playing at a higher level? As for Duns it looks like there may be a bigger picture with rumour of "stepping up" to EoS in a year or two and other facilities in Duns have been mentioned. The difficult bit will be sustaining it all once/if it is achieved. They must have a generous sponsor or great fundraising because all that does not come cheap especially with grant funding levels about to be slashed. I am sure there is a Dinger out there with the answers.

Deary deary me its a bit early for the jungle drums to be beating is it not - are we not all content in having a rest and watching the mighty England make an arse of themselves?????????

Anyway here goes as I understand it on the points that have been raised;

Signings or at this stage although I would prefer to use the words 'verbally committed' - and that is no offence anyone who has actually signed the wee bit o paper - Lummy, Andy Douglas (Hutchy Vale) Ryan Burns (Grimlaw) and Des Chisholm (Dunbar) - there are others in the pipeline who shall remain nameless until confirmed - anyone else interested will be made more than welcome at pre season training - date to be confirmed

Players & Money - Lummy nor any other player have not and will not be paid any money for playing for Duns Amateur FC. This is simply malicious gossip from certain members of the green eyed monster brigade!

Lummy & Travel - Lives in Berwick so travelling to training and games can be shared with manager & assistant

Attraction to Duns; Good set up, good players, good manager / coaching staff, good pitch and good committee - why not give it a try if you think you are good enough?

Generous sponsor; Duns have many generous sponsors so a big thank you to them all

Gavinton Changing Facilities; True the changing facilities at Gavinton are in a poor condition. The club have been holding off improving these facilities as they have been waiting to hear what facilities will be made available to them at the old high school. However the club has recently taken the decision to upgrade the Gavinton facility regardless of what is happening at the old high school due to the number of users which include several kids teams amounting to around 100 children. Fund raising for the upgrade will begin soon so watch this space - if you are interseted of course!

Doug 'big ginger' Brydon; Duns Amateur FC did not pay any money to release him from Coldstream FC - If as reported any money changed hands it most definitely did not come from the club. The club are delighted to have a player of Dougs quality back at Duns and if he needs a few weekends off thoughout the season to go rallying then so be it

EOS; It is no secret that Duns aspire to join the East of Scotland League again and when the joining criteria is met an application will be made. If that application is succesful the idea is that Duns the same as most other border clubs in the EOS will retain Amateur status with one team and the other will play in the EOS league
