To date, 8 clubs in membership of the BAFA have been deducted 3 points for one reason or another this season, some clubs have been deducted more. Are the rules becoming too complicated or is winning at any cost the name of the game? Are players not made aware that when they sign that signing form that it is basically a contract with the BAFA and SAFA?

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

yes think the players are aware but some of the reasons this year where because of clubs not understanding the 14day rule involving EOS! Also seems to be the same teams getting docked point every year if u check the BAFL! Surely the clubs riofending year in year out should be made aware of this at the start of the year maybe warnings or something jst a suggestion but clubs can't keep getting docked points every season makes it a bit shambolic (Kelso thistle -3points) not a dig at Kelso just perfect example

I do think that persistent abuse of the rules should merit a hefty punishment. After all players who receive 4 cautions get a 2 game ban, if they re offend they get 4 games and so on. It is the more obscure rules that get me for example International clearance! It is amateur football and as yet I don't know af any clubs who can afford to bring players in from another country (other Border clubs yes, other countries no).

I don't think the rules are that complicated and it is hard not to make mistakes when players tell you they haven't signed for another club to then find out a week after you sign them that actually that had signed for a team up the road.

The international clearance thing is a very strange rule to say the least.

It may help if the SAFA could have a central register of players that is updated regularly (very unlikely with that lot) to show which clubs players are registered to. This would need to readily accessible to clubs of course. I think the SFA do something similar.Posted Image

This wouldn't obviously account for players who play abroad and then come over during a season.Posted Image

Tats a bit harsh after 4 yellowss you are suspended for 2games in junior football when you reach 10 penalty points you are fined £10,then 18 points you get 2 ganes plus £10 fine and 24 points ur up in front of disciplinery committee.

International clearance is a pretty basis thing tbh - and exists in most countries at all levels. If you're having contracts + eligibility rules, you need it.

As for the disciplinary thing... I know that in the Juniors most of it is done in cash fines, not bans or suspensions? Personally I find that a bit odd tbh.
