Thinking about buying this - is the DLC an add on at the end to extend the game or would it be worth getting the add ons before starting the game?
Last game I completed was Dead Space (I know i'm about 2 years too late!!) is the game along a similar feel?
did anyone actually buy Alan Wake?

I got the game a few days ago, and have downloaded both extra episodes, but makes sense to play the game first before the DLC IMO.

^It came out in May. So you've missed it by a few months. Was #1 in the UK at the time.
And yeah, you need to finish the game before you do the DLC, or it will make NO sense at all. The DLC continues from where the game left off.

Completed it just a little while ago. Fantastic game, even if the ending was shite.
Got the 2 extra episodes to fire through now.

I disagree. I thought the final episode in general was a bit poor.
Drive. Stop. Kill - Repeat. Even the tornado part was a bit dull. All you had to do was fire a few flares in to it and that was it. Pretty simple.
Started on The Signal yesterday, and I'm at the bit where I'm trying to reach the sawmill. Pain in the arse. I run but they all catch up with me, but if I stay and fight I just run out of ammo or die. It's a nightmare.

Probably not worth a full-price purchase, but at a tenner or so it's well worth a pop. I really liked it but can see why others wouldn't.

The enemies can be a pain in the ass with it taking quite a few bullets to get rid of them, heard rumours the 2nd one is out this week

Picked this up for a tenner at the weekend, it was a pre-owned copy but inside the case there was an unused code for the first DLC guesing whoever had the game previously didnt like it.
Enjoyed it so far, think I'm about half-way through episode 2. Its a bit different from your normal game in that each "level" is broke down into an episode like a TV series and you find pages of the manuscript dotted about which give a brief paragraph of things that will happen later in the game. Well worth £10 so far.

Think its one of the best written games ive played in a good while, genuine horror at some points, and if you play it with your turtlebeach on you will shit yourself the first time someone touches your shoulder mid fight. I bloody did and it was only my poor gran bringing me a cuppa
I'm gonna throw you in my DeLorean and gun it to 88.

Completed episode two last night and have made a start on the 3rd. The story has me hooked, I normally only play the Xbox once or twice a week but thats 3 days in a row now I've been playing it. The combat is pretty repetitive which is the only downside but the story, atmosphere and graphics more than make up for it a bit like Bioshock in that regard.

I played the first episode of this and wasnt that impressed, mainly because of the combat. Maybe I'll give it another go ... after Skyrim
