Newtown 0 - 2 Duns

Better team won on the day, we didn't play well and can have no complaints. Runners up, winners then semi finalists, been a good run for us in the waddell cup the last few seasons, anyways all the best to Duns in the final which promises to be a good game with 2 decent sides in the other semi.

Gala Rovers 1-2 Pencaitland.

Well done to a much improved Pencaitland who thoroughly deserved their win tonight. Gala Rovers just never got going at all after the early goal. Pencaitland looked dangerous and tricky down each wing without ever really threatening the Rovers' goal - Deano had a very good game, especially when running at the Rovers defence.

There has to be a mention about the ref who, as all would agree had a bit of nightmare this eveningPosted Image ; gave Pencaitland absolutely everything. Not that it is the reason that Gala lost; they were just beaten by the hungrier team who played the conditions well and kept the pressure on by constantly winning free kicks and throw ins.

They will have a tough game on Friday but personally I would have to say if they play like that they will probably just edge Duns out. Should be a competitive game anyway.

Good luck to both teams in the finalPosted Image

Would agree with that. Gala were having an off night and the ref compounded it. Well done to Pencaitland though who deserved it on the night and stopped the Rovers from playing from the back thus stifling any momentum they tried to get going.

The Rovers can look back on a season with pride though. One cup and arguably the best team in the league for the second half of the season. If they don't lose too many they'll be the team to beat next season IMO.

I'm afraid that they will probably be losing some of the best ones; Pinnons will likely be away along with the possibility of Shaun Hardie and Ryan Grant going too.Posted Image

From a Pencaitland point of view I thought we never gave Gala much time on the ball and worked very hard closing them down.

Agree that Ref has had better games.

Also agree when Dean was running Gala defence he looked very good.Another good display from Bucket and George in middle.

Cheeky a class act 2.

Looking forward to final on friday, could go either way.

Some great shouts from Gala support during and after the game but deep down I think they know the best team won on the night.

Well done Tranent jnrs LOL.

Think 3 or 4 have played with Tranent at some time and may do so in future but bit harsh 2 say team full of ringers.

If Pencaitland keep the same team for next season, then I do not think they will be far away from challenging for title!! Is it true that Brian(think thats his name) is coming back to take the hotseat?!

The following was taken from the Juniors forum in response to a question about Brian being at Netherdale with Pencaitland:

"Brian has helped out for last couple of weeks,he has done team talks, picked team etc.

Surprised you recognised him with his new hair do."

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

Cheers for that!

For the couple of weeks he has been involved, the results have certainly picked up for Pencaitland!
