I would rather have Deuchar than the likes of Nish and Kyle, who I feel are worse players, of course I am biased, but I dont thik Kyle's scoring record this season is that great.

Kyle 's had a terrible season, yet still managed double figures.
Nish scored twice as many goals as Deucher this season.

Do you want a go at plugging the gaping holes in your argument or will you just go quiet?

Kenny Deuchar has managed double figures this season.

Are you now trying to tell me Nish has scored 20 goals this season, i expected better Miles, deary me.

EDIT - Nish has 11 this season, Kyle has 10, exactly the same as Kenny Deuchar

That's as maybe, but Deuchar's record of a goal every 6.6 games is not good enough for a striker at any level.

IMO Deuchar's lack of goals this season is mainly due to the lack of quality service. He has been used as an outlet for the defence, rather than a target man.

A list of outgoing players has been posted on the official site this evening. No real surprises, except for maybe in the omissions. No mention of Michael Duberry, Kenny Deuchar, Peter MacDonald, Filipe Morais or Martin Hardie moving on, which suggests to me that McInnes will at least be offering some kind deal to each of the above and is not resigned to losing them, in the cases of Doobs and Deuchar, as yet.

The list of those leaving is:

Paul Sheerin
Alan Main
Gary Irvine
Josh Falkingham
Euan McLean
Gavin Swankie

Mark Connolly and Cillian Sheridan also return to their parent clubs following loan spells.

Will obviously be sad to never see Sheerinho and Main in particular in Saints shirt again, however there is no place for sentimentality in football and I think McInnes has made the right decision in each case.

I feel for Irvine, but he has been awfully found out at this level, but apparently Dundee are after him, so he will be playing at a level he is comfortable at for a while if that happens.

whats the difference? surely if the defence are targeting him that makes him a targetman.

anyway, deuchars lack of goals is because he missed so many sitters, like holmes he has had more than enough chances infront of goal but just hasnt been able to convert them somehow.

This is a glorious day. A day in which we will rejoice in coming years, a day in which history was created, a day in which reform was finally brought to the shores of Britain. A day that will last long in the memory as a turing point in the way our country is shaped.

Yes, people.... Gavin Swankie is no longer on the St Johnstone payroll....

Let's see, the difference ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......................... .............receiving a punt from your defence, 30yards out with your back to goal.

Receiving a decent cross into the box from the byline...............................nah, I guess you're right, spot on my manPosted Image

I haven't felt this good since Gavin Price signed for Stirling Albion.
I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore.

there is more to being a targetman than 'receiving a decent cross' and being an outlet for the defence is 1 of these things.

he isnt a very good 'targetman' if thats all there is too it then Posted Image

I would put that down to a couple of things. But mainly he had a chronic lack of confidence during the first three months of the season after dubious spells with Hamilton and in the States. He looked barely fit and he was certainly not sharp enough to be leading the line culminating in some donkey like performances early on.

He came good though round about January. His work rate picked up immeasurably and created so many chances up front by throwing his weight about. He is the only player we have like that, every other front man is considerably smaller and gets seven bells kicked out them on a regular basis. Most of them have ended up on the treatment table for lengthy spells but the Doc was literally an ever present. For that reason we need to keep him, or get someone else like him. He adds an extra dimension to our attack which has paid dividends in plenty of games this year, with the Hibs and Rangers humpings at the forefront.

Pleased Doobs might be staying. Thought for sure he was off.

Deuchars lack of goals don't bother me. His hold up play is second to none and we miss it when he isn't playing. His tackle against McGeady sums him up, he never stops trying!

He won over a lot of Saints fans that day, the East Stand gave him a standing ovation for that one if memory serves. Pretty much sums up what I like about the doc, the number of goals he scores is a very limited view of what he brings to the team overall.

Any of your released players good enough for us? Think I would take Gary Irvine based on whats been said about his ability in the First Division, and we could use a recognised right back instead of Duffie/Mitchell/Allison.

Had a great season in the first division so I would have to say that he is capable of playing there again. We were panic stricken at the thought of him leaving at this time last year. Then along came Dave Mackay.

Paul Sheerin knows that division inside out, he has lost his legs, but his talent is undiminished, also Gary would be a very good signing for a 1st division club, he has shown he can produce in that division.

Take Swankie for good measure.Posted Image

Hardie & MacDonald signed on 6 month contracts.

Which leaves Deuchar, Duberry & Morais to sort out.
