Wendy-Tam Scobbie? If that's true I'm going to infect one of your colleagues with a violent foreign STD in the hope it circulates your office in a matter of days. You and tam duthie being the intended eventual recipients, as I hold you both liable for this. Jesus.
Going down.
Going down.

You're being a bit hasty here, lads. Tade and Hasselbaink have been linked with just about every SPL club. Even us

Plenty of time and plenty of negotiating still to be done. Think it will be refreshing to have some new faces about. Its not always about individual quality but how the team works.
If you were a St. Mirren fan last summer you would have been bricking it with the majority of their signings. They had a good season and maybe Lomas has a different attitude to what we have been used to of late.
Much has been alleged about his partying attitude, but a hard working physical side that gets on at a friendship level as well as footballing level can be great to watch. I think personally, we have been disjointed as a team for a number of years even though getting some fantastic results. Having big character players like Doobs made up for it.
Getting rid of the bigger egos and getting back to a hard battling side will surely help our youngsters in the long run too.
Will certainly be interesting to see what transpires.

Nonsense.

I'm wondering if he's getting mixed up with two summers ago. I thought St Mirren's signings last season were excellent.
Aye two summers ago it was fucking awful. Last summer was excellent.

As far as I know, a lot of players in England have contracts that run until the end of June and equally, a lot of good players aren't going to commit to teams in the middle of May IMO. So Lomas has a couple of options as I see it, hold off for players and start pre-season training with about a dozen players or, like McInnes last summer, get a few lads in to fill spots in the squad. I don't have bundles of faith in Lomas but, whether you want to blame him or the board, he needs to make these five or six signings he's talking about now as we can't afford to hold off for a couple of months and risk not getting targets.
The names being linked with us don't appear that great but then look at some of the early signings McInnes made last summer and we'd be saying the same thing. Again, don't get me wrong, I'm not confident with Lomas leading us next season but I'm not gonna get on his case for what he's doing at the moment, as I don't see he has a lot of choice. Would folk be happy if we held off signing anyone until July? He wants to sign a dozen players this summer, surely no one was expecting they were all going to be guys like Sandaza or Frazer Wright?

You're right Radford, but I wasn't expecting us to plum the depths of Scobbie either, especially after the roaring success of Higgins and Finnigan.
I do get what you're saying though. He probably does need to get some players in now. Tade and Miller are decent enough targets IMO, they'll hopefully do a job, but I really don't rate Scobbie. He does provide cover on the left of defence, aside from that though... not convinced.

As you say, it's cover. Callum Davidson will be our left back next season, so Scobbie might get a year to show what he can do. If he cuts it, then great, if he doesn't then we move on. If Lomas is signing pretty much any defender, it's not really one that causes too much concern as you already know what our starting defence will be next season. That's a problem as much as it provides stability though, as it's a wee bit of a harder sell than wingers or forwards, as any defender we sign isn't going to be guaranteed a game. Despite that though, we can't run with five defenders next season.
