A lot of reports and hype surrounding the young defender with tabloids erratically estimating the bid value that will take him down south. As a Scotland fan I personally would like to see him go to the premiership as he would receive far superior coaching and become an excellent prospect for the national team. Any thoughts?

Reports of him being bought then loaned back at Rangers. Don't see why you'd go down south to sit on the Liverpool bench, but £3 million for him is good money if it happens.

As a Scotland fan you'd rather he went to the premiership and sat on the bench (if that) and gained very little competitive experience?

As a Celtic fan, I'd like him to go down south as it looks like he could be a right good player for rangers but, as a Scotland fan, I know that at his age, getting plenty of games in the SPL and the odd game in Europe is what will help him develop best as a player.

Think about how often a young player is "ruined" by moving to the OF at an early age when he could be playing week in week out at another club. Wanting him to go to the premiership is the same thing but on a larger scale.

Liverpudlian papers quoting £8mil now, but they were saying £3mil in weeks previous.

Never understood the buy him and loan him back thing. Either he is good enough at that age to get into your team or he is not. Granted breaking into the Liverpool team is never going to be easy but no reason he couldn't do it. Heck Berra, Caldwell and McCarthy are playing regularly (granted at the lower end) and not too many people backed that.

I think it would improve his game if he moved down south to a better standard of football, but whether this is the right move is another thing.

It's pretty common in other countries the whole buy him loan him straight back. Not what I'd do, but I suppose Liverpool can probably afford to do that given their resources and team. I don't however see the point in moving to teams to sit on the bench if you are playing regularly (even at a lower level). It's wrecked the career of countless SPL players moving to the OF and losing their way, I wouldn't want to see that happen to Wilson as he's a real talent.

£8 million isn't likely though, more like £3 million which is good going considering he was worth basically nothing at the start of the season. Smith can spot a defender as Cuellar was bought for £2.37 million and Bougherra was only £2.5 million so good defenders are available for relatively low fees.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't he out of contract in the summer and can sign for Liverpool for a fee decided by a tribunal? Edited to add, whoops, quick google search reveals he's got 14 months left on his current deal. Still, he's only a young player and unless he signs a new contract, he's not contrated to Rangers for long enough for clubs to stump up a massive fee. £3million sounds about right.

He'd probably be better off going to a mid-table team first down south, in truth.

The lad has a chance to be top drawer,he should stay at gers for a couple of seasons or he risks being lost among the big boys down south.
I worked with his uncle for years, the whole family are celtic daft.

Has been ripped apart by Deuchar and Sheridan recently, and looked dodgy against St. Mirren's big men as well, will need to learn how to cope with large forwards and long ball tactics before he moves to England, it's all he's ever going to face down there.
Edson Braafheid... in the World Cup final!?

I give up. What's the table tennis equivalent of Pie & Bovril?

Rangers are using the press to hype this young player the same way they did with John Fleck and look how he has developed.I think he would be better at a mid table EPL team as he would get more games.James McCarthy has looked not at all out of place at Wigan.
but then up stepped Albert Kidd

Wilson looks like he has played in that team for years, a proper talent. It's great to see him doing so well, even if he and the old boy got completely roasted at McDiarmid but a few short weeks ago.

It would definitely be better for him to stay at Rangers until he's about 21, not to mention it would also be better for Rangers. At 18 his body's probably still developing and i'd guess he lacks the maturity required to play in The Premiership. The SPL really is the perfect place for him at the time being. Not below his level and not above his level, like the porridge in that story... just right.

Don't think anyone so far has said it would be a great move for him and I would agree.
For Rangers to sell him then get him back on loan, then for liverpool to see how he does and no doubt activate a clause in his contract and call him back !!!!

The old firm have been slated for years for buying up the best talent then sticking them out on loan to another club.
These players invaribly fail to impress and end up taking a step down to a level they would have lit up in their younger hayday!!

A move like this for 'another' one of the best up and coming talents in our game is just MENTAL !!!!

Money talks. All Rangers and his agent can hear is CA CHING £££££££££.

No thought of his development or his future.

You want to see who at the SFA?
Sorry, you have to go through Ibrox for that.

I understand alot of punter's assumptions that he will be a bench warmer should he venture south however I do like to look at Scotland's future 'stars' with a sense of optimism (A naive approach perhaps). I have seen some pretty average defenders in the premiership this eason and find this quite encouraging.

As for the coaching comment, I think the reason Scotland fails to produce trully brilliant footballers is down to sub-standard coaching among other reasons..

Wilson can certainly play in the premiership, honestly why is it even up for debate. Great player, far superior to david weir.

Apparently Liverpool see him as one for the future, with Benitez' future still in doubt it could mean nothing. They would loan him back so that he is still getting a regular game but he would be a registered Liverpool player, important for a few years time when legislation comes in regarding homegrown players which he would be considered one of after being there for 3 years before turning 21.

Second album was shite.
Scottish referees are 'biased' - towards Rangers and Celtic.
There is an establishment - it's Rangers and Celtic.
