xbl
I'll be getting an HTC Hero shortly, so wondered if anyone else out there has an Android phone and what the best apps are I personally go with Astro File Manager, Hi MSN, and MixZing Lite (for music). I'm not really one for downloading apps though tbh.

Homer Thompson
I'll add some more later, but Soccer Score centre is well worth the £1.50. Better than any of the free football update apps, its basically an unofficial Sky Sports News app
MattBairn
WaveSecure - https://www.wavesecure.com/ - The first app you should put on your android phone. Can shut your phone down over internet and pinpoint it with GPS if it gets nicked or lost. Brilliant. I got it free but I think you might have to pay for it now. Sweet Dreams - Program your phone when to go into silent whether it be using GPS, movement, time or a mixture of all 3 Google Goggles - Just get it and try it. Its fantastic Google Sky Map - Largely useless but extremely cool Taskiller - Close down unwanted apps running in the background and increase your battery life. Astrid- Reminder app. Taking out bins can be given an alarm. etc. Handy. Shazam - It listens to a tune and lets you know what its called and who the artist is (doesnt work with Live music though, but pretty cool)

I cant find SweetDreams! Google Goggles seems to have gone I'd read about that and really wanted to try it. So far Ive installed (and ketp!) TasKiller Astro File manager Wavesecure Star Wars sounds Mobile GA (google analytics app) Soccer Centre TuneWiki (media player that grabs album artwork and displays lyrics in time with the song!) MattBairn
What did you think of WaveSecure? I think its the best app out there at the moment. A must have for anyone with an android phone. The Gmail apps you have I dont need as I have the Google phone and its all built in

Think SweetDreams and Google Goggles - among other apps - are only available for Android 1.6+ Edit: Handcent is another app I use in place of the native 'Messages'. You can use this or 'SMS Popup' to show messages as they arrive rather than having to open up the programme.

The Gmail apps you have I dont need as I have the Google phone and its all built in I've registered WaveSecure but not used it. It looks userful, but I just missed out on the free version. Not sure I'll bother paying for it when the trial runs out. Im not sure I ned the gmail notification either, but it doesnt seem to do any harm! Ah, I only have 1.5 - dont know if 1.6 will make it to the Hero or not I might give Handcent a go, although you can see the message in the notification so its maybe not that useful
Homer Thompson
Another to add to the list instamapper Uses the GPS on the phone to plot your location, and route, on google maps. Gives speed, elevation and direction for each reading. You can also save routes and share them. My cycle route today

Mik
I'm buying that phone in May when I get my offshore payment from work and I will kick my Satio around the flat until it breaks. SE phones are complete puff. I actually really like SE phones, sorry, DID like. They used to have the best interface and were pretty much the only phone i would go for. But they havn't handled the touch screen generation very well at all and most of their new handsets are absolute crapshyte. I have a Samsung Tocco just now (my first samsung) and that's absolute guff as well. Knew i should have tried it before i bought it. I think they should look into improving the quality of the touchscreen instead of improving camera quality. ah well, HTC here I come.
Edward_DFC
I have a google g1 (or htc dream) and these are the apps i use that you havn't downloaded : Dolphin Browser - The equivalent of firefox on your phone Chomp SMS - Much better than the default messaging app FotMob 4.0 - Not only gives you scores but also news etc... Ringdroid - Lets you take any of the songs on your phone and edit them to make them a ringtone/notification Uninstaller - A good app for uninstaling apps

Does FotMob update quickly? I like Soccer Centre, but it doesnt seem to update very quickly, if at all edited to add - also, does it do lower Scottish league scores? No FotMob is quite sluggish i'm afraid, it doesnt have scottish lower leagues either. I use FotMob for football news more than i use it for scores. I use a differnet app for scores called Soccer Livescores which is quite fast and you can pick a match and it will give you notifications when goals are scored. It definatley has SPL + SFL 1 but i'm not sure if it has the other 2 leagues as you can only see the matches while they are getting played
Edward_DFC
Sorry, that wasn't very clear. Fixtures are displayed the day the games take place. You can set a notification on a game you are interested in. There are many leagues (Including ALL Scottish Lower Leagues)
