for months the vast majority of dundee fans stuck by jocky and defended any criticism of him or ridiculed any suggestion that melville was sharpening his knife.
i wonder know if there's still that feeling or now that melville has lanced the boil is everyone at dens feeling a bit better about themslves?

The vast majority of Dundee fans wanted Jocky sacked after Saturday even the ones that had been most supportive of him. Chants of 'Scott must go' and buses singing 'Jocky must go' on the radio etc. Every person my on bus said that he had to go and the vast majority that post on the internet said likewise, his position was untenable after Saturday. The got rid of him at the correct time; when the fans were against him.

I'd have liked Jocky to stay, a lot of the criticism of him and his play was unfair IMO. However, I think it was the right thing to do, we had to do something quick to save our season. We've been down on confidence and I think that Jocky and Ray just couldn't turn things around. We needed to use the disappointment of the defeat to Raith spark us back to life but I think the opposite actually happened.
I guess only time will tell though if the board have done the right thing. I'm happy with Chisholm and Doddsy but I can see that on the outside it looks like we've panicked when, with the resources we have, we'd be able to attract a higher standard of candidate, in spite of our 1st Division status.
At the moment, I am most worried about how the players will react. I think there was a lot of respect for Jocky in the changing room, and they will be shell-shocked right now. I guess we'll just need to wait and see if Chis and Doddsy can lift them out of the slump.
