Mark McGhee's recent comments forced me out of temporary Pie & Bovril retirement. To suggest that sacking him would be harsh, and that the clubs awful displays have been outwith his control sums up what an embarrassing deluded excuse merchant he really is. Do Aberdeen fans now fully accept he is a complete donkey, and do they now fully accept that they are absolutely rubbsih? Discuss.

he's the biggest dick in Scottish Football, if he doesn't get the sack then I expect there won't be many season tickets sold for next season
Predictions: Accies to div.1, Livi to be top 6 in the SPL within 5 years, Dundee to be SPL within 3, Perthshirebell to be reinstated and made mod and finally every new poster with bad patter to be called "KrisBoyd alias" This is no hibeejibee.

Sums it up. He is the Manager and the buck stops with him. Someone ought to explain to him that people follow leaders and when you display no leadership or man-management abilities, your "subordinates will not be interested in what you have to say, far less work their socks off on your behalf.
Trying to suggest that it is only the players' fault wins him no friends amongst the playing staff and allied to his comments that some of them will be out the door in the Summer, inspires no confidence whatsoever. If this is way of motivating his team, he is seriously deluded. What is in the past remains there and the players are looking for support and guidance, not more slagging on TV.

It just goes to show how talented the Motherwell squad McGhee had must have been.
We finished third in the SPL despite McGhee obviously, not becasue if him.
It's just a pity Aberdeen's squad isn't up to the task.

All will be well after the summer when he gets rid of "Jimmy's dross" and brings in his own signings.
A team full of Ifils and Grassis is enough to strike fear into even the highest quality squad in the league.

I like him. He's like a Scottish Robbie Savage - a total wind-up merchant who gets under the skin of opposition fans.
And what?

yes when not discuss why you post more topics about Aberdeen than the hibs!!!
Seriously though I think the majority Aberdeen fans blame Calderwood for the mess the team is in. Lets not forget that Calderwood had a great record of won 3 out of the last 16 games of the season so the slide had already started.
If McGhee gets the type of financial backing that Calderwood got at Aberdeen then if results was very poor then fair enough he should leave but at the moment McGhee has had what Paterson had and that is cut backs. I'm amazed how much the Media is taking an interest in McGhee and his record at Aberdeen, its not like we are in danger of relegation yet, we are going through a bad patch but i fully expect to recover from this or at least win a few games from now to the end of the season.
Its obviously the media do not like McGhee with some headlines that does not deserve a mention like the hamilton game. McGhee comments on Aluko and also praised Hamilton but was twisted to try and get Hamilton players motivated.

Boyle wasn't scared to put his hand in his pocket to get the players McGhee wanted - Hughes and Porter for example were well outwith our budget but funded by him.
McGhee's track record in the transfer market is going after players he can't afford and hoping the chairman will fund the moves. He already has a record at Aberdeen of wasting time going after players he can't afford.
That's why I laugh when Dons fans claim all will be well next season once the mythical clearout has happened as he will "get his own men in". The type of player he fancies costs more than the Dons can afford, and I've yet to see him find a decent bargain signing from the lower end of the market. His record (in Scotland anyway) in this department is shite.
Aberdeen are totally fucked, and there were so many mistakes made around McGhee's appointment it would take me all day to type them out. Although, spunking more or less their entire playing budget paying off the old manager and then compensating us for McGhee and Leitch has to be the most mirth inducing.

a good squad at motherwell??? That squad nearly got relegated
We undoubtedly had the nucleus of a good squad already there when McGhee came in - the reverse-midas touch of Maurice Malpas saw to our poor position the previous season. The addition of Hughes, Porter and a fit McCormack added a touch of class. McGhee's best achievement was getting the players super-fit and finding a (nice) style of football that suited the squad. I think it's fair to say that the squad he inherited at Aberdeen was no-where near as good as he had at 'Well - and he's said as much.
I think the move to Aberdeen has proven to be a bad career move - he seems to have less of a budget than he did at 'Well (whether that's because the money is tied up in contracts for existing players I don't know) and he is expected to finish in the top 4 and win cups every year, not an easy task. I think he had a good reputation after his first season at Fir Park - but that's badly damaged now. It can't help to see the club he left (in a poorer state than he found it squad wise) streets ahead of his new team.

Certainley not, but it's quite funny and satisfying from a Motherwell point of view.
He'd have been better taking the Hearts job.

Says he has a list of 60 to 100 players that are on his shortlist to take to the board. Surely he cant state that all these guys are good enough to turn it round?

I wonder if it's the same list he gave John Boyle just before spunking our budget on Bob Malcolm?
I hope he made the effort to at least write it out again.

hahahahahahahahaha
Just read the article on the bbc website before logging in here.
Maybe with 100 players on pitch, Mutley may manage to win some games.
