I don't think you seem to understand what I am trying to say. I know it will be difficult to compete with Raith, they can provide 1st division football, higher wages and the possibility of full time football. However, why hasn't Dyer, clearly one of our best players, not been offered a contract extension prior to now? I know these things need thought through with regards to the proposed budget for next season but surely it's good business trying to tie up our key players for next season? Why are we waiting for the bigger clubs to come in sniffing about with pre-contract agreements? Once Dyer hears Raith are interested, there is no way he'll ever put pen to paper for us.
This post of course doesn't apply if Duffy HAS tried to tie him down on a new deal, but unfortunately I severely doubt this is the case. Think there will be many more decent players leaving the Glebe this Summer and if Duffy is still at the helm I very much doubt his ability to bring in players of a similar calibre, going by his previous signings anyway.

Think Muddy Feet summed it up amicably earlier on. Just cos its posted on here doesn't make it 100% truth does it? Short of actually being Jim Duffy or a member of the Committee / Raith manager or chairman etc how can you sit at your pc and know for sure what the manager is or isn't doing apart from hearing it from a mate of a mate or whatever. Cos according to certain people on here Duffy's told McAllister not to sign, Chucky wont be signing and god knows what other crap. Maybe if you believe everything you read on here you should support Aberdeen as they've got the stigma of being associated with sheep!

Isn't the forum designed to talk about these rumours? It would be a very boring place if people could not say what they were thinking
As far as Willie Dyer goes, he is a good player, not really playing to his level at the moment. If Duffy had any sense about him, he would be trying to keep the core of the squad he already has at the moment. If this is true, which im not saying it is, surely something has to be raised about the manager's foresight to next season? We have a threadbare squad and Willie is the type of player we need to keep around. So far it seems contract negotiations on our side have been triggered off by other clubs showing intrest.
And Mr Pap. I'm not criticising yet . . . after all these are only rumours. I just hope these rumours don't turn out to be correct
Edit to add, who said Chucky would not be resigning? That seems a bit farfetched?

The Willie Dyer rumour is confirmed as true as it was in todays paper. Not sure whether it was the Brechiner or the Courier as i haven't seen either. Was told about it though.
Regarding the McAllister and Chucky rumours though I was told something different a while back conflicting with the stuff written on here. But as I've stated before I dont just jump on any old bandwagon for the sake of it. I'd rather sit and wait for something a bit more concrete than believe what I've read online / been told second hand information.
Ultimately its between the players / manager / committee for all of the issues regarding the club, then the supporters and wider viewers are notified. Believing rumours are fine if you want to do that, but you have to remember rumours can be detrimental to the club just as much as internal conflict.
I know I haven't been known to have an opinion one way or another regarding this season but its because i can see things from both sides which a few people cant seem to grasp. Duffy should be walking this league with the players at his disposal but we're sitting 4th in the league, therefore Duffy should be sacked? Well look at it from the Committees point of view. We've been sitting in the play off positions for pretty much the whole of the season, and if i remember correctly from last years AGM, that was the position they wanted the team to be in, Playoffs or Winning the league. Therefore Duffy and team are doing well.

I think the majority of people on here are content, if underwhelmed by the performance of the team on the pitch. The poor away form at the start of the season has come fairly good in the past few months and the team are in a position to make some sort of a title bid.
However, I think most of the "Duffy out Brigade" are more worried about the long term stability of the squad and club. By the sounds of it, Duffy seems to have a very laid back attitude to contract talks and the bringing in of new players. This is more of a concern to me than the performance of the team this season that you rightly say was discussed at the AGM.

I take it you just overlooked my post earlier about the atmosphere at the club.
I have been in the fortunate position to experience first hand a lot of the good times over the last 20-30 years.
Never in all the times previous to Duffy has the general feeling been questioned as it is now. All I am asking is for some reassurance that Duffy actually knows what he is doing and that he has got a long term plan for the club (other than running it into the ground ! )
Is that too much to ask?

However I have a cousin who works in a bar in Spain who's cleaner stays next door to a man whose doctor happens to be the doctor for Barcelona FC and he has heard from the Barcelona coaching staff that they are after a coach who comes from Dundee, has no hair and is doing wonders with a second division team.
Until such rumours are confirmed then that is all they are - RUMOURS.
That's uncanny! my aunt knows your Spanish cousin and she told my nephews neighbor that she'd heard that tale too! surely it must be true as that's too much of a coincidence!

What you fail to mention is at the time of the AGM, Airdrie United were expected to be playing in our division and would have most probably won the league at a canter. I don't think anyone would have expected us to finish above them. However, Livi were of course relegated to the 3rd and Cowdenbeath came up instead, and despite their terrific season to date, I have no doubts they are a weaker side than Airdrie.
I fully expect us to be challenging for the league, and although we've been in the play-off places for the vast majority of the season, we've never really looked like title contenders. We had a chance to put ourselves in a great position on Saturday but we blew it, and now it looks like it's going to be an uphill battle to keep up with the likes of Alloa.
Where we finish this season isn't my concern. I have total faith in the squad that they can go and secure a play-off place. My worry is next campaign. We're already going to be without Willie Dyer, resigned to losing top scorer McAllister, and more key players likely to make an exit. Unfortunately Duffy hasn't really shown any qualities so far with regards to transfers so replacing them won't be easy. Rory McAllister and Paul McLean have both been great signings but unfortunately they have been far outweighed by the flops (the re-signing of David Murie, Chris McGroarty, Ian Harty, Mark Cowan, Kris Renton, Darryl Gowans). I'll obviously give Terry Masson time to prove himself but signing a player who has been released by Arbroath (wrongly or not) and has been recently plying his trade with Carnoustie Panmure doesn't fill you with great confidence. Same goes to Barry Tulloch, we haven't seen anything of him yet but he's been let go by Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton in the past and has been playing amateur football recently. Not to mention the number of players that Duffy has been interested in but has lost out to similarly sized clubs (McKeown to Stirling, Bradley to Stenhousemuir, Wyness to Dumbarton and to a lesser extent Bobby Barr to Livi).

Get a grip Steve. If we win our games in hand we are level with Alloa and Cowdenbearh and one point behind Stirling!

How likely are we to win all 3 games in hand? We have only won 3 on the trot once this season and we rode our luck in 2 of those matches which could have gone either way. Even if we do manage a trio of wins, I expect Alloa to pick up more points in the run-in, they've made a few decent signings at the right time and look strong.
