Being the best right mid in the world isn't an achievement? What are you on about?

Do you just have a bee in your bonnet with him because he's succesful?

Not at all, I just don't like the guy particularly, in a way I actually admire his skill at using the media circus to his advantage, I'm a big fan however of players like Fabregas who just get on with playing football and forget the rest.

Swampy explained it well, being the best in your position doesn't necessarily make you world class.

SSN say Beckham has just touched down in Finland for his operation. How exciting. They didn't say what meal he had on the flight but hopefully they'll update us fully shortly.

He shouldn't have had a meal if he's heading stright for the operation which will I presume be done under anaesthetic. :P

Apart from Figo (who I thought he was better than anyway) in his day he was the best right mid in the world - that's world class if you ask me.

Agreed.

You can't over-rate the second best right-mid in the World can you?
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.

Good point SD! He would then be following his wife's diet, nil by mouth.

Disappointed Gordon Brown hasn't made a statement yet. The guy just doesn't care.

Yep, and for me it's Johnson.

This caught my eye. I was reading Lee Dixon's scouting thing on the BBC and he was saying that if Walcott or Lennon is playing as a right winger then he'd be tempted to go for Wes Brown rather than Johnson to add a bit more steely to the defence. After all do you need both Johnson and one of the "flying wingers" on the right hand side?

I think England could get away with playing narrow at the World Cup as long as both Johnson and Cole are fit.

"I remember all of them, and every single one was a deliberate stab through the heart of Hibernian Football Club. Nothing against the fans but you lot have to understand that when Hibs didn't sign me, I wanted revenge. Some folk laugh at that and say: ‘What, all 27?' I suppose maybe 25 were punishment; the other two I banged in just for the hell of it."

But I also said that Beckham was world-class.

He absolutely walked it in both Spain and England, he's had a glittering international career (by English standards), I can't believe we're even discussing this, frankly.

Isn't there a thread in the gold forum which basically serves as a warning to not call beckham crap/overated/not good?
I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.

well it isn't true. Beckham is a great/world class crosser of a ball. He is great/world class freekick taker. But to suggest he is the the best ever, and there is no one else close, just because the english sports media told you this is pathetic.

Who said he was the best ever?

dubs wasn't saying that at all.

And Rooney (currently) is World class.

I think he was on about Adam Johnson, he scored a cross passed Gordon yesterday, and has looked excellent when I've seen him for Man City.

Bloody hell. If Rooney's not world class, then who the f**k is? Name me a player other than Ronaldo and Messi who's better right now.
C'est superb a tete! Il y a equalisation fantastique! Monsieur! Johnny! Russell!

I haven't, as my post implies, he is currently World class, that is not to say that he always had or always will be.
No, no I didn't he never has been World class, never will.

Right, you said that dubs said he was the "best", I assumed that you meant best right-mid not best crosser.
He probably could be the best crosser in the World.

Christian Ziege was better than Beckham at crossing, and free-kicks.

best i have seen was bloke who used to play ventre half/left back for lazio. Bloke for yugoslavia. As for free kicks it had to be juninho.

Also i have forgot how good gary neville was at crossing.

I can't comment on others, but Juninho is a good shout.
