for both sides surely. It's the start of a home run for us, we have three home matches in a week and we need to be seriously looking at 7 points minimum. Airdrie really need a win or it's surely all over for them.
The onus is on ourselves to be more expansive in our play and create the chances, Airdrie sat in and held out for a draw in the final fixture last season and they'll certainly try and keep it tight.

I don't know whether Greacen returns or not, assuming he isn't I'd go:

Cuthbert
McGuffie Shimmin McGregor McKinlay
Masterton Jenkins Tidser McAllister
Russell Weatherson

though I suspect Grady will put Simmonds in and pick the other 10 players out of a top hat.

Edit: reading SD on another thread suggests that Greacen's next ban won't kick until at least Saturday, ditch McGregor and put him in.

Oh, here we go. Teamsheets, tactics and Greacen 2000. Greybeard, aye? Or where wid ye git a hot towel shave in Greenock?

McGregor's first goal in nearly 7 years!

The texts from the guys at the game have stopped - must be really exciting now!

Edit - 4 and a half years.

Pretty poor fare from both sides but Morton deserved their win tonight. Anyone thinking we're out of the woods based on the scoreline, though, is sorely mistaken.

On another note Airdrie are a horrible little downmarket franchise of a club and I hope they go bust when they go down.
Ol' Hick'ry said we could take them by surprise if we didn't fire our muskets 'til we looked them in the eyes

Delighted with the points, very disappointed with the labouring performance. Grady's reaction after we got the winner was absolutely pathetic: let's take off our top scorer against the bottom team when we need a third to kill them off, and put that diddy Simmonds up top with an ultra-defensive back 10. No wonder only 1266 could be arsed to turn up - we're scraping along the bottom of the barrel and there is no sign of an upturn in the near future.

Glad to see the back of Airdrie, all they are is a well-organised Second Division side at the end of the day.

I think it was the wrong change for Grady to make but you are far, far too hard on Simmons. OK, he's not the new Inzaghi, but he did what he had to do tonight.

I can appreciate closing down the back-line and defending from the front, but did he look like threatening the opposition's goal when we played 4-5-1?

I haven't seen anything from Simmonds yet that suggests goals, from any of his performances. To me tonight underlined just how dreadfully reliant we are on Weatherson to put the ball in the net.

Swap "well-organised" for "mid-table" and you may be onto something.

Peter has been carrying an injury and it was touch and go whether he started tonight. I think Grady was trying to protect him for our up coming run of 2 games a week.

I thought we were dire tonight and looked a team totally lacking in confidence. Having said that, we did just about enough to justify the win. For me Tidser again looked pretty composed in the middle and did not waste many balls. I also thought Simmonds did well when he came on, better than I have seen from him previously and far better than Russell who again looked out of his depth, even against the worst team in the league.

Defensively we were very nervous and their goal came from McKinlay getting dragged across to the right (and making an excellent goal saving tackle on the way). When that happens, he is reasonably entitled to expect someone, probably McAllister to tuck in and protect the left side of the box. Jimbo failed to do that and the result was a free header for their scorer. I was not happy with the defence tonight and a better team would have murdered us.

Airdrie fought hard but really had nothing much other than the referee going for them who gave us absolutely nothing. Conroy really must be one of the worst around!
I plan on living forever! So far, so good!

"On another note Airdrie are a horrible little downmarket franchise of a club and I hope they go bust when they go down. "

There's nothing like empathy between clubs,,,, or perhaps not in your case!

We are a dire side this year and little better in recent times. Nevertheless, as Bob Marley sang...." when you are judging somebody... somebody is judging you"

Relect and grow up!
PENALTY FOR HAND BALL....THAT WASN'T HAND BALL AND WASN'T IN THE BOX.....YOU HAVE A LOT TO ANSWER FOR SYME!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

If Brian Winter, Anthony Law, Chris Boyle and Euan Norris can be considered good enough to referee senior games then Conroy should have no problems.
It's my solo party, it's my body, and if I choose to abuse it with my lifestyle and my music
What the f**k! I can't lose! It's my life! Why is it I can't keep you far enough away?

Would it be that hard for me to pull off a pair of fake tits and a nice pout? I think Conroy's about as incompetent.

I didn't think there was any particular need for the change at the time, but say what you want, it worked. Paartalu was mopping everything up and winning every header.

As for "that diddy Simmonds" .. you're clearly a moron. Simmonds showed potential and done a good job tonight.

Be that as it may, the tactical rejig to put one up front was garbage. If Peter was struggling then he should have went before Russell came off, and Graham could have been used as a second sub IIRC.
