Will we get beat on Saturday though?! I might actually attend that game. They should get Ray Allan back to do the half-time draw, so we can throw pies at him, and carefully prepared bags of rotten fruit.

No, we'll win on Saturday. Tonight will be a case of "after the Lord Mayor's show" unfortunately.

I'm still going tonight though Posted Image

As mentioned somewhere on another thread earlier, I still remember the Pars fans walking down Pratt Street singing "You're gonna win f**k all" on the day they humped us 5-2 after our cup win over Airdrie in '94, I'm hoping we don't get caught with another hangover like that, but to be honest you've got to think it's on the cards, much as I'm encouraged by that Pars injury list.

Like most others, I'd settle for three points from six, maybe even two at a shove. But if we're going to win one then hopefully it's tonight because I'm going to miss Saturday.

Come on Rovers.

Gathuessi off with an injury now! I've never known a team to get so many injuries...

As for Bell a clear red card but no doubt the Pars fans will be on later foaming at the mouth claiming it was undeserved!!!

Great chance to get into this game in the second half.

An absolute HORROR tackle from the Townie f**k. Two footed lunge whilst stretching, studs showing and over the ball.

Christ, Raith seem to be getting dragged into a battle at the bottom with this form. I mean, if we somehow win tomorrow we are three points behind them and still to play them twice. I think they are still about three wins from safety.

Have always thought that we are still in a battle. The big game for us comes at Morton on 23rd if we can come away from that with at least a point, we will be in a good position.
Just got to match Ayr and Morton for the run in, but as has been said we have a lot of games to play in a short period.
At least it keeps the league excitingPosted Image Posted Image

Well done the pars, they were well worth the win. We huffed and puffed but had zero end product. D smith should have been brought on far sooner.

The pars defended well though. Altough really , we blew a huge chance tonight. If Ayr get anything tommorow.........
Long ball (often colloquially referred to as 'hoofball') is the term used in association football to describe an attempt, often speculative, to distribute the ball a long distance down the field via a cross, without the intention to pass it to the feet of the receiving player.

It is a technique that can be especially effective for a team with either fast or tall strikers. The long ball technique is also a through pass from distance in an effort to get the ball by the defensive line and create a foot race between striker and defender.[1] While often derided as either boring or primitive,[2] it can prove effective where players or weather conditions suit this style; in particular, it is an effective counter-attacking style of play in which some defenders can be caught off-guard.

What a cracking game of football that was. Can't begrudge the Pars the win, clearly they were on the back foot for a long time with ten men but ultimately Gibson was the difference between the sides again.

But for us, we overcame the injuries and gave that a right go; threw everything at them second half. We had the man advantage, yes, but it doesn't often make quite as much difference to the balance of play as it did there. Shame we couldn't quite find the second goal (or indeed the third) but I was just as proud of them tonight as I was on Saturday, and the reaction from the away support at the end suggested I was far from alone in that.

Injury worries aside, keep playing like that and we'll stay clear of the play-offs no bother.

I'm pleased the lads got a good reception at the end. We had to nip off just before full time to get up the road.

Simmnons played really well I thought. Hardly put a foot wrong.

We played fairly well today, but I just can't help but feel we blew a huge chance.

So proud of so many Rovers players tonight, especially the guys who were out of position.

Ferry - not a LB in a million years, but slotted in excellently once again, so, so unlucky with that dipping swerving effort. I was sure it was in all the way.

Ellis - more of a recognised left back for us in recent times, fantastic performance again, that Beckenbaur flik over their strikers head was absolutely majestic.

Simmons - again, never a centre half but a great performance. Was playing very well at CM before he was forced to move due to ANOTHER injury.

Murray - slots in brilliantly pretty much anywhere on the park. I think we could play the man in goals.

Williamson - never a central midfielder, but tries his hardest every time he plays and put in a workmanlike shift tonight.

The injuries are REALLY killing us. How can we expect to beat teams when we're playing so many guys out of position? Quite disappointed, but not completely disheartened. If we show that fight and determination when we have a full squad to pick from (which we never, ever will, but there we go), then we would be comfortably mid table, if not further up.

You could perhaps argue that we deserved a point for our end of first half and full second performance, but we never started the game until 30 minutes in, and as soon as the second went in against the run of play. that was it. It completely flattened us. We huffed and puffed the whole times and stretched the Pars completely at times due to the extra man, but in the end just couldn't find the net when it really mattered; when we were on top in the match. Walker's goal was an excellent slid pass from Slaon I think, and an excellently taken finish. Allan Walker has been our best player for about 2 months now, and he is finally showing us all what he's capable of. Flinging himself in front of everything he could, and has a deft touch and finish on him. About time, too.

Pars, well, when they are good, they are very good, but when they are bad, fuck me they are awful. They went 2-0 up and then proceeded to kick it up the park to no one for the rest of the second half. You could see McIntyre getting really, really wound up about it, and he lost the plot with his players a few times are their apparent inability to pass the all out of the defence and build a structured attack.

Hopefully the injuries to Weir and Gathuessi aren't too serious, adn we could do with them for part two on Saturday. Our squad is down to the bare bones again. When is it ever going to end?
