Failure? I'm not sure.

After being in the top 4 since early October and sitting in the top 2 for the majority of that time, with 11 games to go to now relinquish that position would be seen as a major disappointment, not failure.

It would be though. We are well clear of the 5th and 6th placed sides and only a major Cowden collapse would allow them to overtake us. We can only throw it away.

You have to set your targets based on where you are now. Theoretical projections before the start of the season no longer apply.

I do see your point. It's an extremely valid one, too. Maybe I just don't want to set the players up for a fall. We all remember last season thinking that the title had been won only to see us crumble in the last quarter. I honestly don't think that will happen this season, though. Danny will have learned from his mistakes, so have the players.

I just don't think you can legitimately call this team a failure, wherever they end up in the league.

Agree with that. Even if we finish in 8th spot then this season will have been a major success for Cowden. A play-off spot would be fantastic though and is well within our grasp. The situation we are in now is markedly different from when we blew the 3rd Division title last year. Then we were favourites and a lot was expected of the team, whereas now we have nothing to lose and nobody has huge expectations so theres much less pressure on the players. Our game against Dumbarton looks like it will be an important one but you could say that about all of our remaining fixtures. It is fantastic to still have such a positive goal to aim at towards the end of the season.

What he said.

It's true that we would all have accepted 8th place before a ball was kicked but we have exceeded all expectations and our targets have shifted accordingly. Given the lofty position we now occupy, not making the play-offs would represent failure.

Does that mean the Rovers not winning the Scottish Cup is a failure for them?
I'd be disappointed if we didn't make the play-offs but that's hardly failure and that would be my hopes, not necessarily everyone else's.Survival in this league is a job very well done.
AND WHY ARE WE MENTIONING FAILURE NOW!

It's a massive part of the national psyche unfortunately. People don't talk about success in this country, they talk about what could happen to f**k it up

Obviously not, no. Cowden fans are just trying to talk down their chances, probably because of the humiliation of last season. It's natural but pretty obvious.

Agreed! And why are we mentioning play-offs and survival?

Lets talk about CHAMPIONS AND TITLES.

This may not be the best-ever Cowden team but I defy anyone to recall a side willing to put in as much effort from start to finish. They deserve 100 per cent backing on the run-in when there will be highs and lows for all the teams.

Come on Cowden
