OK i think the time has come for us Cowden supporters to admit that we have avoided relegationPosted Image . I have been in denial for some time but our safety is now secure and it's time to say it out loud.

We are now in danger of securing a play-off berth due to a large points cushion, superior goal average and games in hand against many of the teams who could deny us. Yes i did just say thatPosted Image !!!!!! and i know we can still throw it away.

To say that we can be proud of what the manager and players have achieved so far is a huge understatement. We were everyones favourites for the drop and im sure most Cowden fans ( with the usual exceptions ) had huge fears about how we would compete. Not only have we held our own but we have over achieved big style.

Im not going to mention the P word as i don't dare to think about that and the potential implications of that for Cowden. It's been said before but what a shame that the Cowden players get such a small home support when they have achieved such a high standing. At least the guys who go to the games, regardless of how we do are doing, can enjoy the success we have achieved.

I confess that i know that we have avoided relegation and that i am a Cowdenaholic.

I hope you guys do get to think about and enjoy the 'P' word. Most of the teams competing have enjoyed a time in division 1 in the past 5/10 years apart from cowden. Would be good to see the cowden fans get a chance at it.

Thanks for those words of encouragement. Im just delighted to have been able to watch a Cowdenbeath team who work so hard for each other and who are never beaten. In most part we have grafted to achieve good results but on occasion have played some great passing football such as in our biggest home wins of the season against Peterhead and East Fife. The 'P' word is a frightening one and i don't honestly think we have to worry about that, but anything is possible. We have had one season in the old First division during my time supporting Cowden during which we were humiliated most weeks, apart from one noteable win against the Pars at East End Park which i am lucky enough to have been present at. One thing is for sure, we will have a big part to play in who does claim the honours. Alloa will not be looking forward to a tough fixture against us on Tuesday night and im really looking forward to the next run of home games.

Your wind ups just show that we have been a threat to you and have been well intentioned as a bit o da banter in most part. I just hope that i live long enough to see Cowden beat you lot away from home. Perhaps the last game of the season would be a good startPosted Image .

I would echo that. It was great seeing such a passionate and vocal support getting behind their team. Do think about the P word and believe that it is possible. I cannot remember Cowdenbeath playing at that level - so go for it. If you do not finish first, then keep the dream alive through the playoffs.

All the best.

Come on up Cowden it's nice up in the first division! :D

If you fail to win the league will likely head to the play-off games to support you, I was at Stenny last year for the final. :)

Indeed, what a day that was.

However these things can work both ways....one of the guys on the Alloa forum was pointing out that the last time Alloa won Division 2 Cowden finished runners-up and we sold our best striker to Celtic ;) .

Cowden ensured they wouldnt be relegated a long time ago. Deserve great credit for their season and they are in with a great chance of the title, especially as they are playing Alloa under 19's on Tuesday night.

Welcome aboard! You got the last seat on the bandwagon.

But forget the P word, lets have a go for the title. The boys are up for it and every team will drop points so we are in with a chance.

Remarkable season so far. Could have expected this in my wildest dreams the night of the play-off final defeat.

There is still a lot to play for so lets not stop now.

There is an almighty scrap on for the relegation play off place and whoever finishes there may have a record high points total. Stenny should be safe as they are on a good run but that can be tunred round in 3 games.

I have no idea who will finish 2nd bottom!
'Terracing celebrations were suitably extreme. Indeed, the Cowdenbath faithful - all 60-odd of them - kept the rest of us entertained during the not infrequent dull moments. They regaled us with everything from "Cooper's a poof" (difficult to substantiate) to "black and white shite", a suitably assonant summary of the quality of their opponents'

You did OK with the team you had out yesterday. We had three injuries - one of them to your favourite player - doesn't look good for Tuesday.

Im looking at the mbu situation as 50/50 he is a big strong bullying defender but isnt quick on his feet so i reckon prunty would have the running on him and if he is out you have armstrong i think? who is a pretty solid defender who i think could deal with our strikers.

Armstrong and Darren McGregor will no doubt be playing.

We've avoided relegation - am sure of that. We can win the league.

What he said.

It's true that we would all have accepted 8th place before a ball was kicked but we have exceeded all expectations and our targets have shifted accordingly. Given the lofty position we now occupy, not making the play-offs would represent failure.

Failure? I'm not sure.

After being in the top 4 since early October and sitting in the top 2 for the majority of that time, with 11 games to go to now relinquish that position would be seen as a major disappointment, not failure.
