Myself and a group of friends where having an arguement the other day over who is a bigger team, in general terms, Nottingham Forest or Newcastle. After I told these ignorant arseholes about the history of Nottingham Forest they thought twice and 5 out of the 10 of us agreed that Nottingham Forest were a bigger team. Of course, the people who I had this discussion with are complete idiots and a few months back accused me of being "sad" as I knew who the great Billy Bremner was and told them of how he is both a legend to Scottish football and Leeds United.

Nottingham Forest have won 2 European cups, once champions of England, 4 league cups and 2 FA cups. They get gates of around 26,000, although come from a city with 2 teams in the football league.
Newcastle have won 6 FA cups. However, get gates of around 45,000.

As both teams are on course to be promoted to the premier league, who do you think, overall, is a bigger club?

The club with the greater income, gates and Stadium is Newcastle, so I'd have to say them. They are however massive underachiever's and don't have the European history and pedigree of the Nottingham Forest, but Newcastle are still bigger.

It all depends what you mean by bigger. Newcastle have had the better recent record, so for me it would be them. However, if you consider the team with the better history to be bigger, then that would be Forest.

Clough had Forest punching above their weight while Newcastle are under achievers. So in reality neither are big clubs.

You're the idiot if you think Nottingham Forest are bigger than Newcastle.

Are Vale of Leven bigger than Dundee United?

No, of course they are not. That is a stupid question whereas asking who is bigger out of Forest and Newcastle isn't that stupid, there are a lot of things to compare and think about over this topic. The question you asked is completely unrelated. In terms of Scottish football Dundee United are a relatively big team, Vale of Leven aren't. That is like asking who is bigger Aston Villa or Tamworth?

Back to the original matter, I believe that Nottingham Forest are bigger simply because of their history and the fact that Newcastle have no real history. When I was speaking to somebody I know from Hull, who is mad about English football, he said it was a very difficult question to answer and that it was 50/50. However, it is simply a matter of opinion.

Asking someone from Hull to give a truthful answer about Newcastle is a bit like asking Carol Vorderman to stop acting like a paranoid bag lady when appearing on Question time.

What the f**k is up with your hull cyber pal? Its not exactly a hard question to answer?

I hope you didnt ask him something hard like what he dribbled at dinnertime.

He isn't my cyber pal and he probably knows a lot more about football than you.
This is quite rich coming from you. When asked would you prefer Scotland to be an independant country, you would answer, yes. Not a difficult question, yet you still give the answer of an idiot.

Piss off.

Sorry, I was obviously giving biased opinions there. 6 FA Cups do count. Although Forest still have a better history.

"Bigger club" is of course a massively subjective term but, speaking as a Forest fan, there's absolutely no doubt that Newcastle United is a "bigger club" than Nottingham Forest. Any suggestion otherwise is ludicrous.

While we're on the subject then, who is the bigger club, Nottingham Forest or Chelsea? Because you could apply pretty much the same criteria and come up with Forest as the answer but it would be an even more stupid conclusion.

Clough DID have Forest punching miles above their weight when he had them winning European Cups but that was a different era and it's virtually impossible for a provincial club to win a European or even national title these days. Forest are a big club and I'd say ought to be an established Premiership club but they aren't as big as the likes of Newcastle and Chelsea.

Man Utd are a provincial club (as are Celtic and Rangers, incidentally).

I would say neither. Forest have better history while Newcastle have more fans and earn more money.

Ok then your cyber acquaintance, try acting like less of a fud, im sure you can make pals. Chin up eh?

Do i want scotland to be independent? yes.

Nottingham Forrest were always considered a medium sized club with a tremendous manager, which helped them punch above their weight.

Would you consider Dundee United/aberdeen to be a bigger club than chelsea?

I don't talk to him online. You clearly have no friends which is understandable as you are a complete p***k. Asking whether Dundee United or Aberdeen are bigger clubs than Chelsea is ridiculous and proves what a complete idiot you really are.

Newcastle are the bigger club undoubtedly but Nottingham Forest are historically more successful.

There is a distinct difference in my opinion between a "big" club and a successful club.

The lower end of the premiership is stuffed with shite like Wigan and Hull who are by no means big clubs but are moderately successful in being in the top flight.
On the other hand genuinely "big" clubs like Southampton, Leeds etc with fan bases and stadia better than many of the Wigans and Hulls of the world are floundering in the lower leagues due to well documented financial mismanagement and various other factors.
We're on an express elevator to hell. . . . . .going down!!!!

It is as stupid as asking whether Forest or Newcastle are bigger, albeit the gap it a lot bigger.

You seem to use history as the pretty much the sole reason why Forest is bigger, well Vale of Leven have won more Scottish cups than Dundee United.

Not really, they are both big clubs which should be in the premier league and hopefully will be there next season.
There is a big difference between comparing Vale of Leven & Dundee United and Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. It completely depends on how you define a "big club".
