I get the feeling this run-up to the end of the season is going to be a particularly good one - a 'six pointer' every two or three games for Alloa, Stirling, Cowden & ourselves with it being a close four horse race now :)

Posted Image Brilliant!

After avoiding relegation to the bottom division 2 or 3 times in recent years,i'm sure most of our supporters have their feet firmly on the ground.

If we continue to perform like we did last night however, then we'll be lucky to even make the play-offs.
We do have the squad capable of winning the league though. We just seem to be stumbling along at the moment, 2 points out of the last 9(same as Stirling) isn't title-winning form.

Agree the league is far from over we have 2 massive six pointers coming up be intresting to see how we line up in those games if we beat stirling on saturday it would be hard for them to fight back but not impossible and then a win against cowden would help to draw a bit of a gap again but im not as confident as i was before saturday.

It is interesting to note the matches between the top 4.
Alloa get their away games out of the way quickly, after next Tuesday, each team will have the following games left against the other 3 teams in the top 4;
Alloa; 3 at home, 0 away
Brechin; 2 at home, 3 away
Cowden; 2 at home, 3 away
Stirling; 2 at home, 3 away

In other words, everyone has to play everyone home and away, with the exception of games at home to Alloa.

I've never had the inclination nor the desire to create an Alloa supporting alias, and never will.

Keep it up Alloa, been to a few games over the years and the improvement is superb for the (small) town. Hope more people will start taken an interest and give your gates a wee boost between now and the end of the season (if not longer)

While your rivals don't know what's happening with their club, it must be refreshing to see your club move forward in leaps and bounds and dream of playing 1st Division football next season.

Keep it up and best of luck!
Things can only get better!

Arbroath v East Fife, 15:00
Brechin v Stirling, 15:00
Clyde v Dumbarton, 15:00
Stenhousemuir v Peterhead, 15:00

Two points

I won't make it on Saturday, nor on Tuesday as I'm visiting family in Orpington. Can someone text me the score

Also could the Alloa Cowden game be a league decider? Does anyone remember the promotion decider in the 90's?

Brechin are now clear favourites for the title.

The current top four will be the top four at the end of the season with the finishing order being decided on relative levels of incompetence rather than competence.

This is the worst overall standard of football ever witnessed in Division 2.

That would be fantastic. Imagine a beautiful day and a winner takes all scenario. Wont happen though. I would love to see all 4 teams still in with a shout on the last day of the season.
'Terracing celebrations were suitably extreme. Indeed, the Cowdenbath faithful - all 60-odd of them - kept the rest of us entertained during the not infrequent dull moments. They regaled us with everything from "Cooper's a poof" (difficult to substantiate) to "black and white shite", a suitably assonant summary of the quality of their opponents'

What exactly do you base that on? They've only got about 16-17 players in their squad according to their fans on here. A couple of injuries and they'd be fecked.

I still think Alloa are the favourites, based on the fact they seem to have the best starting XI of all the chasing teams, and have the slightly more favourable run in. And are currently top of the table.

I wasn't aware it was a requirement to provide evidence to support one's opinion. :P

How depressing. We are lined up for a tremendous exciting finish to the season and you feel obliged to make that statement.

Not really,

I agree the season could be set up for a tremendous finish but that doesn't negate the fact that the standard of football is at an all time low.

Must be if Alloa are top of the league. ;)

I agree with every single word of this post.

I didnt see us last night thank God but on Saturday we looked a million miles away from being a title winning side.

One thing that is certain is that this is the best chance any of these 4 teams will have of winning it for a while. With Livi coming up and probably Airdrie dropping down along with possibly another 1st div team coming down the league will be much more difficult next season.

Agree 100%

This season, the 3rd and 1st divisions are relatively strong, but next season the 2nd div will strengthen at their expenses.

Livi (who'll probably go bust - again) apart, there doesn't seem to be anything else in the 3rd.
The 1st division is always going to be a step too far for part-time teams. The best they can hope for is one season of survival.
Not so sure that there are any great teams going to get relegated from the first either.

I don't, I was only 4. My Dad has told me so many stories about that game, though.

Surely with Alloa v Cowden and Brechin v Stirling on the last day of the season, one or both of them may decide where the title will go. That'd be brilliant.
