We hear a lot about the cost to industry and to the taxpayer of businesses and public bodies that carry high levels of absenteesim. Policemen and teachers have higher levels of sick than other occupations (unsurprisingly).

All clubs in the SPL have been hit by having key players injured but are we now finding a culture developing where players are not bothered taking their wages and are content to be paid for sitting in the stand?

Hearts had 15 players on the "sick" list at the weekend and earlier in the season had a player walk off the field of play knowing that he could not be replaced as all the subs had been played.

Some players have in the past insisted on playing when injured and we have seen a number of players playing with the aid of injections, face masks, rugby helmets etc. Barry Ferguson, Terry Butcher, Steven Pressley and others have taken their bodies to painful extremes in order to play and I just wonder if there are too many players now who lack that mental strength.

My absenteeism has had no effect on the team whatsoever, they're still playing shite.
3x Leagues of 14. ALL with 7/7 Split, 2 up 2 down & 12v3 playoff.

Merge & regionalise Senior/Junior divisions below, with access to SFL.

Good point.

I've just finished reading Bertie Aulds book and he speaks about how in his day players were determined to be in the first team and playing every week because the bonus money was as much as much as their wages. This is something I've heard a lot of players comment on through the years. Yes they were on good money...but not the massive differences that players are on these days. He says players were maybe on twice what the working man was earning in a week. Compare that to todays footballers and it's easy to see why they couldn't give a f**k.

Money has ruined the game and the current days players are so far from the fans who pay the wages, unlike the guys back then who would be able to mingle with the fans in the pub on a Sat night.
53 titles...38 is the real figure...corrupt tax dodging titles don't count

Where you basing your arguement solely at us or was it general? As it's a bold statement to suggest we would hinder our own objectives by allowing players to avoid playing in crucial games.
