Brilliant, exactly what we need, good young Scottish players learning their trade in another country.
Edson Braafheid... in the World Cup final!?
I give up. What's the table tennis equivalent of Pie & Bovril?

Hopefully this won't affect him as badly as the speculation about a move to Rangers did a couple of years back. He's a good player and he wants to go out and try and make it at a higher level and I certainly wouldn't begrudge him looking to leave Fir Park in the close season to try and do that.
PSV would be a bit of a surprise though, and this is coming from the Daily Express.

Does he play right back? Can he play centre back? God knows Scotland needs more reliable centre backs. This would be great if it comes off.
Who's hotdog is this, is it yours?

I predict this will go the same way as all the other "Decent Scottish youngster to fairly big European club" rumours.

He'll end up at Burnley then.

They aren't "fairly big" though, unless you would also consider Rangers and Celtic to be "fairly big". The Dutch league is nowhere near what it used to be.

It's be a good move for him, good luck to him if he does decide to go.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't
Die, die, die....I can't

motherwell would take what they can get for him. He's not wanting to stay any longer so getting some money for him would be a good move. He's a good solid player loads of experience for his age, would be a good purchase, I think he needs to move on to get some better opposition which would only make him better, dunno if Holland would be the place to do it. Would be disappointing and a waste if he moved on and didn't get a game though. He needs to be careful where he moves to.
YES! YES! YES!

This.
I [agree/disagree] with your assessment because you [praised/insulted] a [team/person] that I [support/loathe]. Furthermore, I [admire/ridicule] your writing based on the previous statement, and not on the merit of what was actually written.

Mark has been excellent for us and loyal enough to the club for me so there would be no hard feeling from me if he wanted to move unlike that little shit Slane.

Probably won't happen but would like to see it go through. The gap between SPL and English Premiership is immense even if players do ok they often end up at relegation threatened teams e.g. Burnley so have a steep learning curve. The Dutch league may not be what it was but is a step up from the SPL. The Dutch league has a good history for developing players and them making the next step perhaps this is a big part of the reason why their league is viewed as not as strong as top players have moved on more. I actually think the big 3 Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord have weakened the last few years like the old firm have over here. I am not sure the rest of the league has and perhaps explains why teams like AZ and Twente are up there pushing at the top.
I suppose it is a similar level to the championship but i think the schedule in the championship can be quite gruelling especially on international players and teams don't play a more open game like on the continent. Championsip players tend to sink or swim and you can see that by the amount of loans between the clubs and transfer of players. I think the likes of The Dutch, French and Portugese are a bit more nurturing of younger players. A top player for say PSV I think will get more noticed than a top player for Blackpool. If a player can go to Holland, France or Portugal and do well there they can probably get a gig at a top German, English, Italian or Spanish club. I am not saying Barca, Man U or Inter straight away but certainly top half teams e.g. Everton, Spurs, Sevilla etc.

So who would win..
Villa or St Mirren
Spurs or falkirk
Liverpool or celtic
Man city or motherwell
Everton vs Rangers
Hell the old firm would struggle to beat anyone in the EPL
The top 8 are terrific sides with great quality the rest could be beat on occassion but would find it eassy against SPL due to playing against such quality week after week. Nice thought but dont kid yourself the SPL is miles behind the EPL in term of quality across the board.

Can see where you're coming from, a few Celtic friendlies/CL games I can remember against Premiership opposition in the last five seasons are:
2009-10: Celtic 2-0 Spurs, Celtic 1-2 Sunderland, Man City 2-1 Celtic, Celtic 0-2 Arsenal, Arsenal 3-1 Celtic.
2008-09: Fulham 2-1 Celtic, Spurs 2-0 Celtic, Man Utd 3-0 Celtic, Celtic 1-1 Man Utd.
2007-08: Newcastle 4-1 Celtic.
2006-07: Celtic 1-0 Everton, Celtic 0-3 Man Utd, Chelsea 1-1 Celtic, Man Utd 3-2 Celtic, Celtic 1-0 Man Utd.
2005-08: Fulham 0-0 Celtic.
Three wins, three draws and ten defeats is hardly impressive.

Aye, true. I'd still say our first team is better than Burnley's.

Roy O'Donovan scored a hat-trick in League One at the weekend. It's no better than the First Division.

Do you think the entire SPL could cobble together a side that could survive in the EPL? I very much doubt it. Whatever 11 you pick, thry'd be relegation contenders from the get go. Take out the £65kpw loan player, and the SPL select would be relegation certainties.
