The reputation system has been running now for a while and I'm keen to know your thoughts on it's future.

We have some options that are displayed in the poll above, please vote and let me have your opinion in the thread.

Note that it is easily possible for me to drop the negative aspect of voting and just keep positive votes, and note also that in due course when the next software release comes around that you would be able to click on the little red or green circle and see who has given you positive or negative rep points.

Don't let this thread turn into a bitchfest please, just tell me what YOU think.

I'll use the poll results to help decide what to do with it, and I'll also discuss with the mod team. So, your thoughts please ?

I'm mostly viewing pandb on the iPhone or touch, so don't use the rep system.

Personally I would drop it and will vote that way.

For me the points are too easily manipulated and at the end of the day what will it be used for?

If you disagree with a point of view or agree with a post then you post to say so....

p.s. I also use my Blackberry often to view the site so makes it more irrelevant to me.

Where's the 'keep it and give me more votes so I can give them to Kilt' option?

I don't use it myself as I don't see any point, but for those that do like it, it seems like a bit of harmless fun. Therefore, I say keep it! I don't think it achieves any practical purpose, not unless you want to filter topics to see only posts by those that aren't Kilt, but its not doing any harm.

I think the idea of rating other people's posts is kind of heinous, so I'd get rid of it altogether personally.

I'm all for keeping it as well. I use them pretty sparsely but I like having the option to use them. Plus, it is pretty funny to see Kilt make a 3 word reply with about -9 at the bottom of it

I can't say I'm that bothered by it either way if I'm honest. It can be annoying reading a post by Kilt or someone similar when they are moaning about it. Seriously, it's so petty. What's the point in getting wound up about it?

Gun to head I'd say get rid of it.

"Keep Positive voting, but drop negative [13.33%]"

Bet only people with negative rep vote for this.

I say keep it, but give more votes. Maybe 5 for Gold Members, 8 for Platinum.

Any opinions are not necessarily my own but those of the BBC.

I'd say give us more positive votes, but change the name of 'negative votes' to 'kilt votes'.

Get rid of it, if it was just a background thing like XBL says I'd have no issue but what you end up with is lots of replies saying 'have a green thing', or pages of Kilt "not caring" about it.

It's just a bit pointless, really.

I say keep it: if we get more votes, and Kilt sticks around for long enough, we might be able to count to infinity.

In seriousness, I’d maybe up the number of greens available per day and keep the reds as they are- there’s been little of the “you’re my mate so have a green dot” that I thought might happen (or if there is it hasn’t been done publicly).

If it does go, it was worth it just to see the star next to the post where dundeebarry wrote Leigh Griffiths’ blog.

Pointless keich.

The very fact that people choose to post on here at all suggests they are emotionally and/or intellectually wanting, so incorporating this system is only likely to further destabilise their mental state.

Most posters on here (to include all Motherwell and OF supporters) are clearly self-isolating sociopaths, so they will have very fragile mental dispositions. Too many negative hits and P&B could be guilty of spawning a serial killer.

Keep the positive voting, and up it slightly. There's been a few days where there's been two or three things I've laughed at heartily, but I've only had one vote.

I doubt that'll end well...
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't
