It's a fair risk, but I'm not going to pick him early.

As for Lincecum, how about I pick a shortstop who will miss the entire year, and a pitcher who does likewise, and you give me Lincecum plus a 20 home run player of your choice? Sound reasonable? :P

That 1 trade cost me the title :(

More bad news for Fantasy teams:-

Twins Closer Nathen has torn ligament in elbow

That takes away 1 of the very few closers who seem completely reliable.

I'll get this bumped up to the top. Only 2 days and 20hrs until we draft - and hopefully all 10 of the people who have signed up so far can make the draft. Any more going to joi us?

Oh yeah, i heard rumors that the reason Albert Pujols is struggling thi s spring so far (hitting only .222) is because he has a bad elbow, and may need TJ surgery before the season starts, meaning he is out for the season.

I'm guilty of skipping previous drafts but did last years and really enjoyed it. Good fun. Picked Roy Halladay (BlueJays legend) 2nd round, 2nd pick last year and was happy with the pick and got called a homer. Hope he has a great year with the Phillies this year.

Will only be looking at two or three BlueJays this year and no pitchers amongst themPosted Image . Did I hear something about league ralignment here in the winter ?

I have to go out of town tomorrow, any chance of postponing the draft for 1 week?

We had a decent number on for it.

Pleased with my team too, hopefully Pujols can avoid the TJ surgery this year at least...

I was all ready to come on here thinking i am screwed, and it isn't that bad when you look at it:-

C- Doumit
1B - Ortiz (anyone want him?)
2B - Uggla
3B - Wright
SS - S Drew
OF - Pence
OF - Bounr
OF - Kubel
Util - ZImmerman
Util - Beckham

and especially my starting pitchers:-

SP - Lincecum :D
SP - Hanson
SP - Webb (Dl for now, but last years Carpenter?)
SP - Lowe (will be back better)
SP - Harang
RP - Rivera
RP - Waggs
P- Rowland Smith
P - Maholm

I love having Hanson and Lincecum in the team, who i think will be 2 of the Cy Young hopefuls.

Ofcourse, i don't know if it is just because there are a lot of players available there.

Anyway, if anyone is looking for a 3Bman - give me a shout.

For those who weren't online, and just for reference sake, the draft took exactly one hour. With eleven teams and nineteen players to draft, it was a nice size of draft, I thought. I was knackered at the end, but that's how you are supposed to feel after a draft, I think. And an entertaining time was had by all, the best bit unquestionably was the shock drafting of Brian Bocock in something like the sixth round.

Anyway, my team, despite a rocky middle, looks okay, although I am banking on a heck of a lot of players making returns to form. Namely, Huff and Hamels.
C; Victor Martinez
1B; Joey Votto
2B; Ian Kinsler
3B; Evan Longoria
SS; Elvis Andrus
OF; Shin-Soo Choo
OF; Manny Ramirez
OF; Nate McLouth
Utl; Aubrey Huff
Utl; Adrian Beltre

SP; Dan Haren
SP; Cole Hamels
SP; Jake Peavy
SP; Roy Oswalt
SP; Matsusaka Daisuke
RP; Heath Bell
RP; Trevor Hoffman
P ; J.A Happ
P ; David Price

High risk, high reward was my tactic.

I take it you will be worried about Mclouth too then lol.

So, will i trade Lincecum and Drew for Peavy and Andrus?

Nahhhhh :)

Wish i was able to make the draft, but that's life.

Still - does anyone want a 3rd baseman?

I'm actually still laughing out loud about that... comical.

Just to point out, Bocock was drafted before the likes of:
Valverade, Street, K-Rod, Ibanez, Jurrjens, Soriano, Russell Martin, etc etc.

Superb banter!

I'd maybe be interested in discussions for a third baseman, what are you looking for?

It was. I heard the japanese league have "huge strike zones" - hence some japanese pitchers struggling with control in the US - but that was ridiculous. Unless it was all faked.

Hey, Mr Pansy - have you heard if Madison Bumgarner is going to be in the majors this year or not? I just took him with the last pick of a draft i just did.

No, he'll be in AAA to start the season. It's the usual though, to avoid his salary arbitration kicking into gear a year early, he will spend at least 25 (I think) games in the minors. Expect him up in June sometime, and only earlier if there is an injury. Which with SP is quite likely. If you have bench spots, keep him. If not, drop him.
