Think I'll go for 6-5 to Morton. Our latest defensive trial will have a disastrous opening 15 mins in which we'll find ourselves 4-1 down, we'll come back in to it a bit but be trailing 6-3 at the break. We'll throw everything forward second half and almost do it but just fail in the end. 5 for Knight, 6 for Weatherson! Posted Image

Don't be daft - there's never been such a game.

Though we're unbeaten at Palmerston since 2002 in the league games we've only been good for one freak win a season, the return match has been a draw. It's a difficult place for teams to go to, though we are responsible for nearly half of their goals conceded at Palmerston. I'm going to go for a draw, which I'd be content with at the end of the game. We're not firing on all cylinders but we have a relatively strong spine in the team again, from Stewart through Shimmin, Greacen, Jenkins and Weatherson, so it ought not to be straightforward game for the home team regardless of history.

I'm concerned by the cold sunny weather forecast that the park may freeze, not just for personal plans but I think we have a much better chance of going down on a Saturday and getting a result. If it's playable I'll be heading to for the first time since Davie Irons' side ground out a 0-0 in the season we survived on goal difference. And I'll be going to any of the apparently plentiful good pubs in the town.

1-1.

I don't think I'm the only one who'd bite your hand off for this result  Even if the scores were reversed, that's a game I'd like to see.

Was he not caught out for their goal, though, and was he not a bit fortunate not to give away a penalty?

Did Weatherson not score last time Andrews played too? Anyway, I think this as good a time as any for the hoodoo to end, 2-1 Queens perhaps.

Yup, he didn't cover himself in glory for the goal but compare that match to the one at Palmerston where Nelly and Graham gave Lilley and McCausland a torrid time simply by continually out-muscling them.

"With his inelegant Tin Man running style, erratic crossing and unquenchable zest for lager, he was the soul of football."

I hope to god Andrews is not playing, he simply gobbled up every single ball that came in the box at Cappielow! He almost had me tearing my hair out.

God damn his large large frame.

When was the last time Andrews played a game - was it for us on Boxing Day? He didn't even play against the Celtic stiffs at the weekend. Anybody got any idea why somebody so lacking in match practice took no part in a training match - was he injured? Whatever the reason, I think it would be a mistake to play him in this because he can't be anywhere near match fit.
And I'm not just saying that because I think we shouldn't have signed him in the first place. If we needed a slow, lumbering centre back who is hopeless on the ground, who will give away daft free-kicks, cause the odd penalty and maybe even get himself sent off by diving into tackles there is no need to make, we could have got JT out of retirement.

While I agree with most of this, my comments were more about what I think Chisholm will do.

In hospitality on Saturday so quite looking forward to that, was told yesterday that with the expected cold snap the covers will be going down on the park tonight.

Was confirmed on the OS.

Always worried when facing Morton, so will be getting nervous as the week goes on.

Morton have been trialing a strike partner for Weatherson called Simmonds and from the noises coming out of Cappielow, he may well be signed. He is very speedy by all accounts and Grady has been looking for a forward with a bit of pace for a while. I would our other two window signings - Tidser a midfielder from Celtic and Kevin McKinlay ex Ross County /Thistle and Dundalk - will all start.

The defence will pick itself

Stewart

Reid Greacen Shimmon McKinlay

Midifield we have a surplus of so who knows but maybe

Finlayson Tidser Jenkins McAllister

but that leaves the likes of MacFarlane and Paartalu on the bench

upfront, Simmonds signs it will be Weatherson and Simmonds

I'm not so confident about this one and think Queens will put the Morton hoodoo to bed maybe 3-1

The only change I would have in this team would be McGuffie replacing Reid at right back, I have a feeling he will start with Tidser and McFarlane in the middle though so Jenkins may miss out on a start, I hope I'm wrong tho! Jenkins is due a brilliant performance.

Yeah, apart from completely missing a header for our goal and giving away what ought to have been a stonewall penalty. Andrews is a big midden, and if this Simmonds guy has promise, a combination of Peter's hold-up play and pace ought to tie Andrews in knots.

He's better than Kevin James though.

I thought Andrews had a decent game at Cappielow, everything we put in the box the big man was on the end off! I suppose you can point out that missed header which caused them their goal but it was not as if was that bad a missed header, the cross was a belter and hit with pace.

I for one will be happy to see the back of him but VT I can see where your coming from regarding pace, that could be interesting.

I will have a good drink in me before K.O anyway so if we do get humped I hopefully will only remember my trip and roll down the away stand steps.

Any Morton fans getting the train down?

An interesting one this. Like others I expect that Queens should be getting a result at some point in this home fixture so I'm not overly confident. We do have the 'Palmerston effect' on Peter of course which should be good for a goal anyway (he clearly loves the place) We have the potential element of three new faces , as Tonsilitis said which could also have some bearing on the outcome. We'll see whether that works for or against us. Hard to predict this one but if pushed , I'd go for a score draw with Peter getting his usual one or two. :)

As do we of course.

Marvin Andrews returns as a new signing, though he did play two games on loan in December. Home fans haven't seen him though. Leon Knight has played only once. Scott Fox and Joe Hamill are new signings also though I'd be surprised if either started.

Really looking forward to this as due to work commitments and the weather, I haven't seen Queens in action since we lost 2-1 at home against Dunfermline on the 1st of December! :o

I predict that Grady and his new signings will bear the brunt of an eventual loss down at Palmerston and the ridiculous 'TTG Grady' thread will be dredged up.

Other than the sending off, you've pretty much summed up McAusland's performance at the weekend Posted Image . I only stayed for an hour on Saturday but going by what I saw (bearing in mind Saturday is the last time I saw QoS play since 5th December) I would make a couple of changes. The team I'd like to see would be:-

Hutton

Harris
Reid/Andrews
Lilley
McMillan

Weatherston
Hammill
McKenna
Burns

Homer
Knight

There is no way in hell that line-up will happen mind you. I am becoming ever frustrated with McLaren, I wasn't impressed at all with him on Saturday, he seemed to back out of nearly every challenge (although the fact it was a friendly may have something to do with that) and he didn't look interested in driving on, he was happier turning back or looking to offload quickly. I thought McPartland's distribution was woeful. Therefore I would like Burns to start and give Weatherston another go in his best position. Again, based on what I saw in the hour, I think Hammill would be worth a shout ahead of Quinn, I don't dislike Quinn I just thought Hammill looked decent from what I saw.

I thought Homer and Knight were actually OK in the first half and was surprised Knight was hooked. There was very little support from the midfield and at one point Knight had doen well to kepp the ball when he had 3/4 defenders round him down the left, no midfielder looke dinterested in supporting him.

In saying all that I couldn't care what the team is if we come away with the 3 points. I'll go with 2-0 QoS Knight and Homer.

Apologies if this has been asked/answered before on a different thread but does anyone know where Leon Knight is based? Does he live in Glasgow?

Hamilton. Stays close to Rocco Quinn apparently.

I suppose McPartland could be added as well.

McParland, who doesn't have a "t" in his surname, could be included on that list too, you are right. He hasn't played at Palmerston either if we don't count Saturday's friendly. Like Hamill and Fox though I'd be surprised if he starts.

Knight got an injury on Saturday according to the OS. That may be why he went off though it may equally always have been the plan to give all four strikers 45 minutes each.

Couldn't disagree with you more about McLaren (though he didn't play well on Saturday against Celtic). He was easily the man most likely to break down Dundee in our last competitive outing and was behind almost all our near things, especially second half. I quite like Quinn as well, he's quietly effective. The place is his to lose, I wouldn't expect to see Hamill come straight in.

McLaren is certainly a bit enigmatic.Plenty of ability but very erratic delivery in terms of good and bad performances.
I have made the point before that pulling out of challenges is one aspect of his game I find annoying.
This is a game we should win and must win if we are to maintain a credible challenge in the division.

Queens fans, do you think there is a chance this game will be called off due to a frozen pitch? I know it's early days but it's to be -4 tonight but to get slightly warmer over the next few days, how reliable are your pitch covers with the bold frost?

Hope to god this game is on! if it's not me and the boys are still heading down for a pub crawl Posted Image
