This is the First division. You cannot afford to play nice football. You just do anything possible to win. And we seem to be winning a lot recently. Great result. Bring on the South.

If the defending was as bad as I hear then we can't really complain about losing 4-0.
Oh well, on to Aberdeen. What was the crowd like today?

I was just so bored, however, the seagulls at SP make for some excellent watching. Plenty divebombing and swooping. The best entertainment all day.
I fear for us on Tuesday. I really, really do.

Really concerned about Tuesday, and for the first time this season I can see Morton overhauling us.
It is a technique that can be especially effective for a team with either fast or tall strikers. The long ball technique is also a through pass from distance in an effort to get the ball by the defensive line and create a foot race between striker and defender.[1] While often derided as either boring or primitive,[2] it can prove effective where players or weather conditions suit this style; in particular, it is an effective counter-attacking style of play in which some defenders can be caught off-guard. - Wikipedia

I think if it'd gone on longer at 0-0, it would've finished that way. If we'd scored first, I think Caley would've woken up and won 2-1. I know that doesn't really make any sense, but I don't think there was any way we were going to win that game. We looked completely bereft of ideas, and while Caley didn't really look up to much either, they at least had their defence organised well enough that we could barely play 2 passes inside their half.
I wouldn't say that they didn't deserve to win 4-0, because they made the chances to score those goals, but they'll play better than that and lose, strangely.
Still, we'll have Simmons and Tadé back for Tuesday (right!?) and I still like the look of Amaya, who was probably our best player despite only being on the park for the last 10 minutes or whatever.

However as much as I blame McGlynn for the terrible tactics, the team just weren't at the races today, and as soon as the first goal went in, the head's went down as quick as the seagulls bombing from the stands. Pumping high balls up resulted in their wrestler looking number 3 (Bulvitis?) headering them away. He also breezed through the game and got himself on the scoresheet. I was looking forward to heading up to Pittodrie. The chances of me going before todays game was 100% not its down to 50%. If they lose the first goal then its bye bye quarter finals, and probably in for an even worse doing that we got today.
Dismal. And quite frankly not good enough.

Crap first half, Caley missed a great chance early on, Smith nearly scored after about 20 minutes, that's about it. Caley had more of the ball and more pressure but didn't really look capable of creating anything. Second half was probably worse in terms of chances, but Ferry played a suicidal ball back to McGurn, the kick was charged down and ended up in the net. Second goal was a great striker from Hayes, took it very well. Three and four came off set pieces, unusual for us, Caley won the first ball on both occasions, a bit of ping-pong ensued and the ball ended up in the net. We created nothing in the second half except Williamson dithering with an excellent chance at 3-0.
Oddly, I thought Campbell and Murray were OK, despite the scoreline. Walker was the pick of the midfield, but wasn't very good, which says a lot about the rest of them. Smith was left hung out to dry up front. Graham Weir was given a lesson on 'how to look like you give a f**k' from Javier Amaya, who played well from the bench.
We didn't deserve anything, but how we lost 4-0 is a bit of a mystery. Hopefully we can just try to forget about it and do the business through the week.

Anyway thought Wilson deserved his MOTM award but really it was not that hard, you know it's bad when your own team "weys" Walkers shot at the end.

What on earth was Ferry playing at giving McGurn that backpass? McGurn didn't exactly cover himself in glory, but it was a stupid thing to do. Their second was a really good strike from Haynes, can't have any complaints about that. We rarely concede from set pieces, so to lose the third and fourth after failing to clear our lines does irritate me.
We really missed Tadé today. The system we employed simply doesn't work without him, it relies upon his pace to get forward and support. Kevin Smith was completely hung out to dry today, absolutely no support given to him at all.
I can only hope our collapse was down to the players saving themselves for Tuesday. I somewhat fucking doubt it though.

I actually turned to my dad today before the game and asked him when was the last time we were gubbed at Starks? Then as we mentioned Walker's mistake in the last game, Ferry started to pass the ball back to McGurn....
Just blame me.

Agree with that, it was bizarre. I think we were going for similar tactics to last week, with Sloan in place of Tade as the main man between midfield and Smith, but could you really pick two more different players in our squad than those two? Was bizarre to say the least, particularly with Amaya, Williamson and Weir all available as options.

Don't agree with that at all. Weir has to earn his place on the team, and to do that he needs to put some sort of performance in from the bench. While I appreciate he came on at a bad time in the game today, all he did was jog half heartedly around and must've touched the ball less than five times. He doesn't deserve a place in the squad at the moment, never mind the starting line-up.

You could probably say the same for Sloan though. Weir has contributed nothing this season your right, but how many starts has he had this season? Hardly any. He surely has to be given a start some time. If not then whats the point in keeping him? But ah well It was just my thoughts. I'll prob read this tommorow and be like did I actually type that? Haha

There's been one occasion this season where he hasn't looked out of his depth. That was against Peterhead in the cup. The rest of the time, he's shown absolutely no sign of doing anything, and has looked generally disinterested.

Inverness weren't much better but the got lucky as their hoof it up the park tactics were getting them nowhere.
As quite possibly the only person left in the back of the stand at full time, an infinitally better performance is required on Tuesday.
