That was the third time this season where I have left the ground angry at a team showing no fight. 4-5-1 at home? What a joke.
Long ball (often colloquially referred to as 'hoofball') is the term used in association football to describe an attempt, often speculative, to distribute the ball a long distance down the field via a cross, without the intention to pass it to the feet of the receiving player.

It is a technique that can be especially effective for a team with either fast or tall strikers. The long ball technique is also a through pass from distance in an effort to get the ball by the defensive line and create a foot race between striker and defender.[1] While often derided as either boring or primitive,[2] it can prove effective where players or weather conditions suit this style; in particular, it is an effective counter-attacking style of play in which some defenders can be caught off-guard.

It was a pretty miserable game yesterday which was always going to be won by whoever scored the first goal. ICT did and the Rovers heads went down and we simply collapsed.

Rooney has 2 hands on the ball when he charged it down and then bundled McGurn to the ground when he was wrestling for the ball. Prior to that it was coasting to a 0-0 draw. ICT were then rampant and could have scored more.

Poor game. Poor Rovers performance. Slightly less poor ICT performance.

God, I hope I don't have to watch anything like that again this season. I could have bought some sedatives with that 16 quid.

£16, thats a bit steep for 1st div. football and must cost a fortune for a family going to the game, what do other clubs charge these days?

thought we played some not bad stuff in the first half and was looking like a not bad game tho 2nd half we were crap not getting round it.

please note that Sloan is not quick enough on the ball to play in the hole behind the striker, every time he got the ball he took an age to pass it, i know that he is one of the best passers of the ball in the team but we need a balance somewhere.

i thought that aside from the pass back (see above) Ferry was a bit of a waste in midfield today, probably been better having the young Spanish boy in Sloans role and had him the centre of midfield or even swapped Russell and Sloan over

i really hope the team get the deserved kick up the arse that they need, its all well and good being focused on teh cup game for the extra cash but our priority has to be the league, we are not safe yet and need at least 3/4 more wins and hope that Airdrie and Ayr drop more points or we will be in trouble

Can't argue with that.

We used the same system against Aberdeen, but got away with it because Tadé could use his pace to get forward and support. Similarly, Russell and Williamson were also supporting, but Williamson had a shocker on Saturday and Russell was kept quiet by a good performance from Tokely. He seems to take a lot of stick on here, Tokely, but I thought he looked a very decent player.

Naturally, Sloan doesn't have the pace of Tadé, nor is he any good in the air. McGlynn completely hung Kevin Smith out to dry with his selection, no support at all.

Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre must be at a loss to explain the succession of goalkeeping howlers he's witnessed from the frazzled Pars this season. I'm picturing a scene akin to Basil Fawlty whacking his car repeatedly with a branch after deciding "enough is enough!"

What a ridiculous decision by the ref to allow that first goal. Unfortunately, like the team, we can't really get worked up about it when there's a cup game on the horizon otherwise this thread would be in double figures by now.

Agree with most of that .Don`t understand McGlynns tactic of playing one up front, understandable against Aberdeen in the cup but at home in the 1st division.

Looking at that picture its not surprising he did not give handball.it summed up the refs performance really

i know you would think we had Walter Smith in charge. Would of though Javier and Smith would make a good partnership for the game on sat, sadly i think our latin friend will be kicking his heels on the bench tomorrow, would love us to play 4-4-2 and just go for it but i cant see it myself

You try jumping up in the air and imagine a ball being punted at you and see how you instinctively react and where you place your hands / arms. I bet you find it's similar.

As above, I think he is protecting his face but I would probably shout for it if it was against ICT.

Do you think Inverness can handle the pressure of being top? I think not. Inverness will not be able to handle it.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over the first goal. Yes a poor decision from the referee but what is new? We see these decisions week in week out and things don't look like they will change any time soon. If Kevin Smith had done the same, we wouldn't have batted an eyelid. We were absolutely brutal and Caley were well worth their win.

I realise the guy's went into that not wanting his nose blasted off his face, but I still don't think it should have counted. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on the rules, but his arms are in what would surely be deemed an unnatural position, so he can't really claim 'ball to hand' for that one. Should have been a free-kick to us, IMO. In saying that, I've no idea how likely you are to get away with a handball if the referee knew it was to protect your face.

We ended up getting pumped anyway, so I can't say I'm particularly bothered about it.

I remember Larsson getting a goal chalked off for protecting his face like that (vs Villareal or someone?) and, as unfair on the player as it probably is, the goal shouldn't have stood. Was the turning point of the game but we didn't really deserve anything anyway so I wont complain too much.
