We've won 2 out of 10 so far this season, of the 8 defeats we've only lost 1 by more than a goal, it's bloody frustrating to say the least.

There are three divisions in the league, we're in Division 2 and we've come up against a couple of half decent players, the best being a guy called Sean O'Shea who was on the books of Man City as a teenager.
I'll see what I can find out.

2 games, 2 defeats have been the order of the day in recent weeks.
Contrasting performances in both of them though.
First game we were pretty out played, we only had 13 players and I played 70 minutes at right midfield which was a thankless task, must have had a dozen touches in that time with the ball constantly flying over my head, we lost 4-1
Second game we mixed it up a bit, changed from the usual 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 with 2 big guys up front who liked the ball into feet and a willing runner playing off them, we were playing the team who were top of the league and were unlucky, 2-1 down after 75 minutes to a free header from a corner which was silly and then the most outrageous deflected og you're ever likely to see. I was a sub and was getting ready to go on with 15 to go to play up front and push for an equaliser, we were committing too many players forward and they scored a good counter-attack so it was 3-1 by the time I went on, I almost pulled one back with my first touch but I probably got too good a connection on the header and the defender on the line cleared when a glance would probably have done it.
Finished 3-1 but we certainly put in a good shift.
This week we go to play the team who are joint top which will be another difficult one, a lot will depend on who we have available, one of our problems is we never seem to have a settled side due to work committments across the team.
We're also one of the older teams in the league, some of the older guys have played at a decent level in their younger days so they've still got the touch etc but we do struggle against some of the fitter teams in the league.

We actually gave a good account of ourselves in a hard-fought 4-2 defeat.
Set-pieces were our downfall, some poor defending from them gave away 3 of the goals.
I played the second half on the left hand side of a front three which I enjoyed, contributed much more than normal.
A note has to be made of the pitch, must have been the hardest I've ever played on, felt like concrete and after 5 minutes it felt like running with a couple of weights round the ankles.

The league generally plays at half 8 at night, it's been quite cool the last few weeks but apart from those few weeks you can be talking 27c otherwise even at night
I've played during the day a few times, it's tough going, must have been 35c at least.
We're playing in the Dubai Football Sevens next month and that's a daytime event.

An away game against one of the teams below us in the league, arrive at the ground and we've got NINE players with a tenth on the way, we don't have a keeper so it's a case of drawing lots almost.
In spite of that we start well, knocking the ball about and our lone striker smacks one off the face of the bar from 25 yards, they proceed to go straight up the park, poor shot but our keeper doesn't get his body behind it and it squirms under him.
Various errors including an og and then a blatantly offside goal have them 5 up just before half-time, our tenth player arrives and suddenly we look like the team with extra player, knocking the ball about, shots on goal and generally working our arses off.
We pull 3 back in the first 20 minutes of the second half before one of our players goes down with no-one near him, his ankle has gone and we're back to 9 players, we still bombard them but just can't finish, either the woodwork or some rank bad finishing, I planted a perfect cross straight onto a guys head, 6 yards out with the keeper to beat and he heads it wide summed it up.
They had 2 shots on goal in the full second-half.
90 minutes as a right-back/right-mid was a hellish shift and I'm feeling it today.
A game we should never have lost.
P.S A special mention to our centre-half who during a goalmouth scramble and wrestle with their keeper landed a perfect right hook on him with no-one noticing apart from me standing on the half way line

We've actually managed to win a couple of games recently and actually drew last week with the team that won the league.
Last night we beat the team in 3rd known as Dubai Frogs, as you might have guessed the majority of them are French and they live up to all the stereotypes, down as if they've been shot any time you go near them and it was a bit of a battle, the ref warned at half-time he could easily have sent 3 or 4 players in the first half and we had better calm down.
Made it all the sweeter when we beat them.

You must SAFA FC, a would 'love it, really love it' if we could move the Border Amateur to Dubai, noticed on your homepage, some long terms suspensions there, is that what the heat does to you?
And has a game ever been called off because of frost?
Sorry, am just jealous.

We've played the SAFA FC 'B' Team a couple of times, think we lost 1 and won 1, we play the 'C' team in the first round of the cup.
I know one of the long term suspensions was for spitting at a referee, not sure about the rest.
We actually had called off due to rain, it would have been normal conditions back home

Just clicked on one of the links to Autotrader Creek and it shows one of your available players as ZZ, Opposition Own Goal. How good is he? And why do you have a * next to your name? Are you special?

I'll see what I can find out this week, I know a couple of the referees.
I have a feeling it's due to the fact I played under my own name that week and my registration had only just gone through. I've played under a variety of names this season

Thankfully, centre-half is the one position where we've got a few players, quite a few of the strikers are far too quick for me.
