The Super Furry Animals are probably the best band to come from the 90s. Whilst other acts have split or just vanished, SFA are still making amazing albums.

I prefer Bruce on vocals now. When I listen to the Donnie stuff, I feel it sounds incredibly dated, particularly through their 'popular' phase (I can't listen to Searchlight or the Big Wheel now). However, I still listen to the last three albums on occasion, and 'Everything You See' is fast becoming one of my favourite albums from the band. I wish they'd get their arse in gear and get a new record out soon, that last one was in 2007.

I like Bruce too, but I just prefer Donnies voice. They're touring again in December so I would imagine that would tie in with a new album.

Urban Hymns by the Verve, is superior to any album Oasis released

Is this an unpopular opinion? If so, f**k this world.

My friend loves Alphabeat, Thunder and James Blunt. He's so fuckin rock n roll that crazy guy.

In fairness to him, as cheesy pop goes that 'Fascination' is probably one of the best efforts in recent years.

As for the Beatles, I completely agree with smpar about the faux love thing that goes on. There's definately a few Alan Partridge style "I'd have to say the best of The Beatles" types out there. Mind you, the only thing worse than these people are pretend Stones fans. They seem to think one of the biggest groups of all time are some sort of alternative lifestyle choice and that The Beatles are a bunch of squares maaaan. Fuds.

Another opinion is that George Martin was the third most talented guy in The Beatles. Take a track like "A Day in the Life"; two quite simple songs woven together to create an absolute masterpiece. I'm not really a massive fan of anything that I've heard written by George Harrison and obviously the same for Ringo.

U2 are gash. Cliched, cheesy horseshiat.

This is a very commonly held - and indeed correct - view.

Radiator is the second greatest album of all time, after The Stone Roses' debut.

But since then, only the Ice Hockey Hair EP has come close to matching it.

Although either Dark Days/Light Years or Love Kraft would be most bands' best album.

All of which is a long-winded way of saying I agree with you!

Listen to a track called Holocene. If you don't like it, the eponymous album - and indeed Bon Iver, simply isn't for you. I think the second record's gorgeous and the first's dull as ditchwater.

Just thought of one. U2's best album, by quite some way, is Zooropa.

Fair enough, musically that song is quite stunning and I have heard that second album and enjoyed a few tracks, but it's his voice that grates me more than anything. I'm not denying he's a good songwriter or even a good singer but it's just not to my taste.

Diamond Mine by King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, which fuses singer/songwriter stuff with "bigger" sounds in a similar way, is a much better album IMO.

I'm not sure on this. Is this an unpopular opinion? I thought 80s synth pop was something people had warmed to over the years.

Lana Del Ray's album is looking like being much better than Jack White's Blunderbuss.

Any time I've seen her perform on the gogglebox, I've thought she was beyond dreadful.

Is it just me or does anyone else think she is mince?

See, I prefer Guerrilla - a perfect fusion of techno with indie pop. The sheer variety on it is astounding and is just a complete blast to listen to.

It also has Northern Lites which just might be one of the best songs of all time, but still only around SFA's 10th best song!!

I got about four songs into the album before giving up - overproduced, underwhelming bollocks.

I was massively disappointed when Guerrilla came out.

Again, if it were any other band, it would be a career high.

But the songs and production on Radiator are just so perfect that they'll never scale those heights again.

Although now I think about it - Do Or Die, Night Vision, Chewing Chewing Gum and Fire In My Heart is a pretty good wee collection of songs :)
