So Day 1 and a shock in the very first match. Sharapova beaten in 3 sets by fellow Ruskie Maria Kirilenko. Andy Murray got off to a fantastic start winning in 3 easy sets.
Just watching the Nadal v Luczak match. Luczak actually served for the first set (at 5-4) but bottled it and lost the 1st set on a tie break 7-0 then the 2nd 6-1.

I noticed yesterday that the draw will have Murray meeting Jurgen Meltzer in the Third Round should they both make it there.
That's the end of that, then.

Local favourite Lleyton Hewitt has just destroyed some Brazilian in 3 sets. Only thing that kept me interested in the match were the frequent shots of Mrs Hewitt in the crowd.

Croats the other day and now 45, yes, 45 Turks ejected from the tournament for unruly behaviour and letting off flares (although everyone in the footage the news has just shown was waving a Chile flag!).
Tonight sees Henin v Dementieva, should be a cracker of a game but very poor on the totty front.

Murray currently 4-2 (had to come back from three break points in the sixth game) up in the second set after winning the first 6-1 against Marc Gicquel.

So far the Open has been good some decent matches. I belive Federer will win. Murray will has a very tough draw. If he wins the next round he could face monflis, nadal and del Potro just to reach the final. Federer's draw is easy until Davydenko and Djokovic

It does seem tough but I still don't think any of those 3 players mentioned are as difficult an opponent for Murray than Davydenko would have been so i'm quite happy he's in a different half.
I seriously think he'll beat Monfils in 3. Can't look any further ahead than that.
edit - this should really be in the other thread though

Elena Baltacha is playing world no. 2, Safina. She is getting a bit of a dooing.
Aye out in straight sets.
Didn't expect her to put up much of a fight against the manbeast that is Safina.
Pretty impressive performance tho making the 3rd round.
Should help her jump up the rankings a bit
