Got the yellow light last night :( :( :(

Got it in April 2007 so well out of warranty but gonna try phoning sony tomorow to see what they can do. But I might just end up getting a new slimline one.

Had a skim round the usual places online to see what offers there are the now.

Anyone know of any good prices or offers on PS3's the now?

I'm missing COD and Fifa already

Sony are Japanese though, and as such are far more concerned with making things as small as possible without having to care about customer service!

If they can't repair it then stick it on Ebay. I got decent money for my broken 360 that was well out of warranty.

Naw cause they're bollocks.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.
Die, die, die....I can't

I got my PS3 within a few months of it coming out and seemingly nearly all of them had the "I'll die eventually" problem.

When it chucked it over a year later, our warranty was up but they still sent us out a free one.

Nah, dont like the 360 controllers and the only game I would want thats on 360 and not on PS3 is Forza 3. Also the fact that I already have PS3 games, controllers etc.

Got a new PS3 in Toys r Us yesterday anyway, that the cheapest place to get the base console the now at 230 quid.

Phoned sony to see what they could do with my old one or to try blag a free replacement. Guy said it would be 128 quid to repair it so didnt bother.

It broke after 2 and a half years? That sounds terrible, but I don't know much about games consoles. All I know is my Snes is still working 14 years after I bought it.

You could get around £100 for your broken PS3 on ebay. Alternatively you could just get your PS3 fixed at a fraction of the cost if you can find a computer shop, or someone who has the tools and knows how to do it.

I'm going to hang onto my friend that fixes consoles forever, never know when he'll come in handy.

Cartridge-based systems are far more reliable as they have no moving parts.

Yeah but it's rarely the dvd/blu-ray drive that is faulty in the new systems.

Nah, I had a look on ebay, yellow light of doom ps3's were going for between 30 and 50 quid from what I seen. I probably will just end up selling it on ebay.
