Myth that would be easily tested:
Does water cook faster with or without the lid on the casserole?
The myth says that it actually cooks faster without the lid, because energy is needed to warm up the lid as well, whereas common sense says it heats faster with the lid, because the lid keeps the heat inside the saucepan or caserole.

This myth should be tested with both metal lids and glass lids.
