The NFL isn't nearly as bad as the NBA for it, however the NHL has had it's fair share of relocations. It's not happened for a while though, the last time was over 11 years ago.

In the 90s the NFL was worse

1993

• The Carolina Panthers are awarded an NFL franchise.
• The Jacksonville Jaguars are awarded an NFL franchise.

1994

• The Phoenix Cardinals changed their name to the Arizona Cardinals.

1995

• The Carolina Panthers begin play in the NFC Western Division.
• The Jacksonville Jaguars begin play in the AFC Central Division.
• The Los Angeles Rams moved to St. Louis.
• The Los Angeles Raiders moved back to Oakland.

1996

• The Cleveland Browns move to Baltimore and change their name to the Baltimore Ravens.

1997

• The Houston Oilers moved to Memphis and changed their name to the Tennessee Titans.

1998

• Cleveland is awarded an NFL franchise.
• The Tennessee Titans moved from Memphis to Nashville.

1999

• The Cleveland Browns begin play in the AFC Central Division

-----------------------

Looking at the same time period in the NBA there was very little change.

1995
Added:
Toronto Raptors
Vancouver Grizzlies
1997
Name change:
Washington Bullets became Washington Wizards

Im not saying that over their history this trend is continued but to suggest that the NFL isnt nearly as bad as the NBA seems a bit wide of the mark to me.

As I said, all US Sports have this as habit due to the league being franchise based. Its something I dont like about it. :(

"WHERE IS THE SECURTIY?"

Never seen that before.

I've only started watching basketball properly this year and the Cavs are my favourite team right now with Shaq and LeBron. Watching older youtube videos on the Bulls with Jordan is class, though.

I love the fan that hits Artest from behind. What a terrible punch by that guy.

Anyway the link i posted was wrong.
Meant to send this ...

My favourite "franchise" is the Houston Rockets.

My old man used to work a lot in Houston and used to bring back some American sports memorablia on his return, therefore i have a couple of Rockets jerseys.

I'm still not really convinced. I don't have a problem with places being awarded new franchises, just the idea of a team being moved and not replaced. This has happened more in the NBA than the NFL.

Any names on the back? Olijawon? Francis? Yao? McGrady?

It's gotta be the Cavs. King James and Shaq, what more could you want.

Yip Barclay and Olijuwon

This is going back a few years when they played in blue. I had one like in the picture below, and my Barclay one was similar only in White. I remember being approached by a sale rep in Intersport in Aberdeen when i wore it out. Back then baketball jerseys were quite hot stuff and he was interested in where i got mine. Not entirely sure why.

Probably go with Boston Celtics based on little more than I like teams from Boston. Only American sport I really care about is Baseball and I like the Red Sox so decided to stick with all Boston teams.

Is there an Aberdeen basketball team?

What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No. I go for the chandelier - it's priceless. As I'm taking it down a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say 'no'. We make love all night. In the morning the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting: I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris, by the Trocadero - she's been waiting for me all these years; she's never taken another lover. I don't care, I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stash the chandelier.

Mon the Celtics

I remember in my younger, bammier days I had a Charlotte Hornets cap, imagine my dismay to discover that they now play in New Orleans and there's some other mob from Charlotte.

I've started watching basketball again now I've got ESPN, but there are aspects that really annoy me. Is there any need for the constant music, it makes it sound like they're playing in a bowling alley or something. Oh and taping it is a must to skip all the fecking timeouts and advert breaks and what have you. And the commentators hardly ever seem to talk about the actual game that's going on!

It's America! Everything is a show to them if you've ever been you'll know what I'm on about as you will know how good half time shows are.

And they don't have to really, I mean the viewer can see what's happening without the commentator having to describe it to them.

They could easily shut up for two minutes in that situation, but they just yammer on about nothing (nothing, which is brought to you by our sponsor Mountain Dew).

I definitely think the music takes away from the spectacle. I don't think 'Wow they're putting on a show' I think 'Wow, they're playing basketball at Hollywood Bowl'.

It's Dallas Mavericks for me, Dirk Nowitzki is an absolute class act with some great players around him like Jason Kidd and Jason Terry coming off the bench. After a poor season last year, it seems they have picked it up this year and should be challenging the likes of the Celtics and Lakers.

Nowitzki is awesome!

Always been the Knicks for me, although tend to support the Lakers in the playoffs. Was a huge fan of Jordan and the Bulls back in the day, still look out for their results after the knicks.

Favourite player has been Vince Carter ever since that slam dunk competition, awesome :D

Never been to a game, only been to America once but going in March so may see if I can get to one then.

I do enjoy the music to be honest, I'm not sure why it just add to the whole experience which is very diffrent from football.

Carter is awesome. No to keen on Dirk just because he's not that exciting to watch, he gets the job done and is a good shooter. I'd recommend you go to any NBA game. Its definately worth the money and experience.

In the NBA, torn between the Minnesota Timberwolves, due a minnesotan mate, and the Chicago Bulls, due to Sir Altitude himself. Support the Scottish/Glasgow Rocks more than either of them to be honest though.
