Harsh

Not at all in my opinion. He was gash and responsible for many an East End groan...

Was it a Morton fanzine that ran the story during Dierdrie Rachid's incarceration in Corrie "Never mind the Weatherfield one, free Harry Curran"

Or is my mind playing tricks again...

Is it possible to combine these into an all time worst xi?

How about each poster adds 1 name until we have a dogs xi, subsequent posters can then make 1 change. After a while we can then challenge the other divisions to a shite-off.

I'll start with an easy option

He was woeful, but he escapes my first team thanks to that last minute equaliser at Ibrox.

Only a couple of centre-halfs and centre-forwards spring to mind.

James Sharp (complete fucking misnomer) arrived at the club after Kenny Black had tracked him for a number of months and finally got his man. Unfortunately he arrived about 6 stone overweight, turned like a bus and "ran" like a pregnant hippo. He did have quite a long throw though.

Frank Conway handed Didier Agathe a football career by gifting him a debut goal against us. Then he did it again. And again.

Niall Thompson. Why is it when your team signs someone who wasn't born in Scotland, everyone assumes he's some sort of undiscovered Pele-clone? Big Niall arrived at Broomfield on the back of a handful of Canadian caps, and showed everyone why Canada don't have a very good football team.

Stewart Ingram. I don't know how he acquired the nickname "Toenails", but it seemed oddly appropriate. Injured 90% of the time, but whenever he did played you wished he was injured again.

I would add

GK - Andy "fucking" Rhodes and
CB - Kenny Brannigan

1. Jamie Langfield - GK is quite tough because we've been reasonably well off for keepers. I've gone for Langfield, as he's the type of keeper who'd follow up a world class save by chucking one in the net two minutes later. It's also less than encouraging when your keeper drops about 8 crosses from a coach during a pre-match warm up.
6. Paul McHale - He's fucking crap. Points at other players and shouts at other players a lot, and basically blames everyone else for not tracking men that should be his. Hopefully he get's crocked in this pointless derby tonight.
11. Beto Carranza - He scored a penalty against United. And a free kick against Hearts. Beyond that i'm struggling to recall him doing anything other than constantly wandering about looking cold and lost.

I'm too young to remember most of the others but I'd disagree with these. Langfield, although capable of a howler at any given moment, was at least a decent shot stopper. He wasn't the greatest, but I've seen far worse. Kelvin Jack for example, as others have mentioned.

IMO McHale isn't even the worst midfielder in the current squad! Colin Cameron's been pretty poor whenever he's played for us this season. Has an almost compulsive tendency to fall over the ball. Still by no means the worst midfielder I've seen at Dens, though.

Carranza, even if considered a disappointment (which he probably wasn't IMO), was still extremely talented. Immediately placing him above the likes of Robert Campbell. Anyone remember him? Think we got him on loan from Kilmarnock. He was awful.

How can you say McHale and Cameron are the worst center midfielders for Dundee. Can you not remember they have Darren Young

Cameron at least tries. McHale spends half the game misplacing passes, failing to track his man and pointing/berating fellow players for not doing things that are his responsibility. He's been better recently, that i'll concede, but considering how generally fucking awful he's been prior to that, it's not a huge achievement.

A couple of seasons back the 2 or 3 times I saw McHale he was your best player. Particularly remember losing 3-0 at NB and he was exceptional. I know it's the done thing for Dundee fans to slag him off atm, but a bit ridiculous to put him in your worst ever team.

Brilliant

My stab ... going back to the late 80s

Clangers had a nightmare spell when Bonneti confirmed him as his No 1 keeper , flogging at least a goal a game for about 10 games in a row.
Jim Lieghton was a massive let down - rumour had it he refused to play unless his defenders promised not to pass back to him as he could not handle the then new pass-back rule.

Although been supporting the Dee for a while this team this season and since relegation will have a lot of players

GK - Derek Souter - Dunfermline, enough said :'( , worst match I have ever been to and he caused ALL 5 goals,.

RB - Joel Kitamirkie - Headless chicken and couldn't actually kick the ball properly
CB - Fan Zhiyi - Terrible got sent off twice and booked almost every game, must have been on a lot of cash at the time
CB - Adrian Madashi (sp) - Laughably bad, cannot believe he actually played for us.
LB - Stephen Mcnally - Couldn't jump, pass, clear without hitting his man, tackle....the list goes on

RM - Vince Mennie -
CM - Paul Mchale - TAXI
CM - Alessandro Romano - LAZIO?????? Really?????? Suppose he spat on a Dons player
LM - Colin Marshell - signed from Stranraer and was pants

ST - Tam McManus - :( worst striker I have ever seen in my life
ST - Jan Ziemlich - Tall, strong, probably one of the tallest players in the league but could never win a header, shoot, pass........

Manager - Alan Kernaghan :(

He's woeful. Feel sorry for the guy because he's never had a run in the side, but there's just nothing to his game. He's weak, lightweight, slow and has a fat arse. He can't run with the ball either. He's decent at little short passes, but that's it.

I feel extremely guilty for writing that. I hope he never reads that.

I would add

GK - Andy "fucking" Rhodes and
CB - Kenny Brannigan

I can see where you're coming from with Brannigan, the term "cart-horse" was surely invented for that man. But was he any worse than the two centre halfs I mentioned?

As for Andy Rhodes... I know he's a much-hated figure among the Airdrie support, with good reason, but he was often outstanding when he played for us. I still have a tape of the Football First highlights from that season, when Johnnie Martin got his skull caved in and Rhodes played for most of the season. He made some outrageous saves... on a purely footballing level he surely can't be in the worst XI.

If I was to pick a keeper it would probably be Scott Thomson. Fair enough he was on a hiding to nothing with the team Gary Mackay put in front of him, but he let in a good few goals that a paraplaegic would have kept out.
