Some people have it and some do not? Is there a reason for this?

Ah, that must've been what the big update was when I switched on the thing this morning.

I thought the update was just to add extra wireless functionality.
Not heard anything about this Sky Player thing, but I don't pay attention to 360 news these days tbh. I know that there is going to be an update next month which adds Facebook and Last.FM though.

Just downloaded it there and the only difference I noticed was the Help section in My Xbox.
No Sky Player.
No Sky Player.
Any opinions are not necessarily my own but those of the BBC.

The Help section's been there since the last update a long while back.
There was an option on my Dashboard last night for SkyTV but I didn't actually try it (1. because we're not actually with Sky yet, and 2. I doubt I'll be paying extra for it anyway)

There's actually a notice up just now on the Xbox apologising for the delay. Problems due to demand being much higher than they expected when it was launched yesterday. They're making changes and it'll be a while yet before it's fixed.
Today's update was for WPA2 wireless support

Think it will be pretty cool when it's live but it's a bit of a shambles that it only lasted three hours following launch before it got pulled !

What is the deal? Is it you just can get the channels that you already pay for or can you get PPV matches on a one off basis from ESPN, etc?

All I know is that it's free if you have Sky Multiroom or Sky Broadband Unlimited package already.
Other Sky customers get the OnDemand service free but have to pay to get LiveTV through Xbox (upwards of £15 I think)
Non-sky customers have to pay upwards of £15 for the entertainment pack (don't know the exact list of channels but I read a while back there weren't that many channels on it and those that were weren't particularly good).
Presumably it'll be similar prices to their normal TV service for Sports/Movies etc in that it's an extra £8/9 for each extra Sports/Movie channel. I think you can pay to have it on for one month only if there's a particular event you want to see that month.
I'm not entirely sure on that, but that's what I've gathered from what I've heard/read so far.
