It's a done deal. He will be unveiled tomorrow.

Hope you have him on a pay as you play deal, otherwise expect to be paying him a lot of money for sitting in the stand.

Now it's quite clear that Dundee are paying top dollar in terms of wages as if Klimpl was only asking for the going rate in the 1st he would have been picked up by the ever more desperate Reid at the 'ammies.

I was under the impression Motherwell didn't have enough in the pot to bring him back and one of his other suitors - Aberdeen - were scared off when Dundee started flexing their financial muscles.

Hence my comments regarding Calum Melville's ludicrous claims regarding wages at Dundee on the First Division forum.

I think you will find that Klimpl publicly stated he wanted to join up with Mghee at Aberdeen but Mghee replied by saying he wasnt interested in Klimpl any longer and wasnt what he was looking for as it isnt as we need a creative midfielder and a striker not a hard center half as we just got on or holding midfielder as kerr plays there.

I can assure you aberdeen still pay players far more on wages than Dundee and thats why we got Ifil in instead of Kilmpl because hes better and costs more on wages. Dundee have financial backing but nothing substantial Melville has thrown a few transfer fees out there but i wouldnt imagine these players would be on a great deak as the majority of them no other decent clubs were interested. Callum Melville is a dandy and if we wanted a player he would take a step back anyway lol.

A hard centre-half is exactly what you need, McGhee was whining relentlessly at the start of the season about how he was fucked without Diamond.

Do you actually listen to what your manager says?

How can you assure him?

It's pretty certain you'll have little idea what your players are getting outside a rough guess, and as for Dundee you'll have even less knowledge.

Remember Aberdeen can't even afford to keep their goalkeeping coach, a position most clubs in the SPL (and even the 1st) have kept despite the financial situation, so what makes you so certain you can "assure" anyone?

Why are his club letting him go?, they paid 400k for him a year or so ago.Seems strange.

Jocky had a word with the local press association and before long a slur campaign was in full swing against the manager at midgetland. Seems the only plausible reason.

Maybe they're just really generous. Why else would they let a world class player go out on loan and then leave for nothing after spending that amount of money? Have you seen the Youtube video?

I think someone should compile one on Jim Lauchlan.

I personally don' know how much Dundee players get paid nor do i care, but you sir should really do your homework befire spouting nonsense. If we can't find a goalkeeping coach why have we been linked to two already since Leighton left. I can assure you the financial situation was no the reason Leighton left.

I'm actually surprised McGhee hasn't gone for him at Aberdeen. He's a free agent and even if wasn't going to walk into their first team, he proved he could play well at this level and McGhee seemed to take a shine to him.

Gannon seems to have his own ideas about the team and seems to be going for youngsters and has brought in a fair few new mid-fielders already so I don't think he's interested.

If this is true then this could be an excellent signing. A good mid-fielder, the kind of player who stops other teams playing. Picked up one or two yellows if I remember :P . He signed as a centre back but only played one game there - had an absolute howler against Hamilton at New Douglas Park - and then found good form playing as a holding mid.

Kerr already plays that position so thats why McGhee hasn't gone for him. We need other areas and anyway i doubt if we can afford his wages.

If anyone is guilty of not doing their homework, sadly it's you.

Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee says he got rid of Jim Leighton because the club cannot afford a dedicated goalkeeping coach.

If you read the post it states we just bought a hard center half in Jerel Ifil.

Do you even know how to read what my post says?

It wasnt about not being able to afford leighton he was just an expensive luxury. Meldrum looks certain to come in and the point in that is because meldrum is also a fitness coach as well as a goalkeeping coach and mghee liked what he done at motherwell. Yes he will be cheaper but he will do just as good a job if not better as he will be dealing with fitness as well. Sounds like good business to me.

Also our new center half is on around a speculated 2,600 a week and theres no way klimpl is on anywhere as near as that at dundee. We are a much superior club to dundee end of story and if klimpl had the option of us and dundee he would have choose us and we could have easily matched anything dundee offered.

Klimpl will be a decent player for Dundee. He was a bit of a cult hero with the 'Well fans with his no nonsense style.

He will pick up a fair amount of bookings but he is a very decent holding midfielder and will be a standout in the 1st division.

Best go speak to your manager, he clearly thinks differently and has stated so on several occasions. I wasn't the one arguing this, Bunts is the one who originally accused me of "failing to do my homework", I was merely stating how stupid his comments were.

He's an awful player. Should fit in well at Dens Park then. Him & Paul McHale will make an awesome midfield.

It made business sense to get rid of leighton. Meldrum in to coach goalkeepers and also the whole team on fitness for probably less than leighton and mghee knows what meldrum can do so its not a risk. Its a no brainer and considering leighton gave his approval to sign betrandt bossu he deserved to be sacked. He may say its financial reasons hes been sacked but doesnt mean its because we cannot afford him just makes more sense for meldrum to come in to do two jobs for the price of one. We knew our budged months ago so seems strange to sack leighton now if its because we cant afford him.
From what i hear it was because we had to wait until John ruddy was signed as meldrum was still on the books as a backup keeper for motherwell and thats whats holding up the process of him coming to us.
