The table is a list of Billy Dodds golfing partners in order that he can beat them. We Gus normally stamps on him and thats why he rfuses to tip us for a win ever. Billy Reid destroys him too.

His tips have absolutely nothing to do with football. Apart from Rangers who he supports.

Dodds appears to predict every game as it was a one off game, like a cup final, hence why nearly half the league haven't yet won a game after 6 games. Which of course, wouldn't happen.
And what?

Ach, I have some sympathy with him. For sure the OF are going to drop points against us diddies occasionally. It's just random, though, which exact games these are going to be. If he tried to guess, he'd get it wrong.

It's interesting to compare what should have happened each game (according to Dodds) and what actually did. This gives some sort of measure as to who is performing better than expected and who worse.

After 5 games we have:

1. Motherwell +6 (6 points more than Dodds predicted)
2. St Mirren +3
3. Aberdeen +2
3. Hamilton +2
3. Hearts +2
6. St Johnstone 0
7. Falkirk -1
7. Hibs -1
9. Celtic -2
10. Dundee U -4
10. Kilmarnock -4
10 Rangers -4

Leaving aside the OF, who can never match Dodds' exalted expectations, this shows Motherwell doing much better than expected and Killie much worse, which squares with what I was thinking and maybe others were too? The odd one is Dundee Utd. I think they've started fine, but in Dodds' eyes they are failing badly.

Edited because apostrophes were all over the place and I'd only get pulled up by Chingford or someone. They probably still are

This weekend's predictions:

Hamilton 1 - 1 St Johnstone
Hibernian 2 - 2 Dundee Utd
Kilmarnock 2 - 1 Aberdeen
Motherwell 1 - 1 Falkirk
St Mirren 1 - 1 Hearts
Rangers 1 - 1 Celtic

A remarkable display of fence-sitting by the eponymous Dodds, with Kilmarnock being the ONLY team to pick up maximum points this weekend. And, of course, Rangers and Celtic drop their first points of the season - to each other with a draw. Who'd have thought it!

Remarkably we have a situation where, after seven games, five teams have still not won a match and there's a massive six-point gap between fifth place and sixth place!

What have Motherwell done to offend him?

To be honest, I would probably have predicted Motherwell to have been down near the bottom given the way their season started and the number of changes. However, they have quite clearly been performing well under Gannon, so it seems baffling that Dodds still hasn't predicted them to win a single game.

i think he expects Dundee United to still be in touching distance of the OF

because if you take it at current (game 7, i know this was for game 5) add that 4 back on to united and they are 1 point behind celtic and in 3rd place

just now they are only 4 points behind

so there -4 there makes for title winning credentials in old Doddsys eyes

[quote name='AllyM' date='Sep 25 2009, 09:56' post='3833475']

Update after 7 games:

1. Motherwell +7 (7 points more than Dodds predicted)
2. St Mirren +5
3. Aberdeen +4
4. Hamilton +2
5. Hearts +1
5. Hibs +1
5. St Johnstone +1
8. Dundee U -2
8. Falkirk -2
10. Celtic -3
11 Rangers -4
12. Kilmarnock -6

What's notable is how little things have changed in 2 weeks. One might almost believe that Dodds makes up his mind on the relative strengths of teams at the start of the season then doggedly doesn't change it. Alternatively, he just doesn't give a toss.

Whatever, Motherwell, St Mirren and Aberdeen continue to amaze. As do Killie. Quite remarkably, Hearts are managing to do better than expected this season :o

hes obviously going to get most of it wrong when he says falkirk will score and that rangers will be top scorers, silly man.
