Anyone planning to go along to this on Friday?

I've never been to a cricket match before, so I'm looking forward to heading through to Edinburgh and enjoying a good day out - weather permitting of course <_< .

I don't expect anything other than a crushing Australian victory given the gulf in quality. Assuming they lose the Ashes, I fear that Scotland will get the backlash. Hopefully Australia bat first, so that the match lasts a bit longer.

Are people buying tickets in advance for this, or is it possible to just pay at the gate?

EDIT because the board was changing "ODI" to "Odi". The old "Roi" trick again.

Don't think I am. I'd get tickets in advance though if possible, I think we had to do that for the India game a couple of years back.

I'll be going. As a Saltires season ticket holder I got a pretty good deal - £60 for the Saltires four home games in the FP Trophy (£15 each at the gate) plus a ticket for the Aussie ODI. Can't argue with that. It also turns out that I get a complimentary pass for the gowf at Gleneagles next week, which I shan't be going to, so if, perchance, anyone who would like to go to the gowf is reading this thread, gie's a shout and I'll post it to you.

As for the match...yes, we should get pretty soundly beaten. I don't know whether it's a good thing that the Aussies lost the Ashes, and got bundled out of the 20/20 at the first stage, or whether that'll just make them more determined to avoid the ultimate humiliation. Aye...it's the latter, isn't it?

Hope you enjoy the match though, Craig. If you do, I'd thoroughly recommend making an effort to get through to some games against the counties next year - the ground is much more charming and sedate sans temporary stands, and you've more freedom to move about and bring your own beers in. I think that lounging about with a few hundred other people on an early summer's day with a few beers, in Stockbridge, watching cricket for seven hours is what God created the world for. It's so heavenly that the result is almost irrelevant...thankfully...

Yeah. I've been watching it off and on all day. We've not done badly considering the gulf in class. Wouldn't have minded going at all but in the end I wasn't able to.

Aussies don't seem to be going for wickets at the moment which is a bit boring.

Woo hoo. First 4 on the board!! B)

Been also watching in the office. Taking a 5for against a pretty decent Aussie team is very good. Well done to Goudie. Mon Scotland

Scotland are still going very well for at least a pretty competitive score, 67-1 right now.

Edit: Good timing, as soon as I posted this Scotland lose Watson, 67-2.

Good day for Scotland. Some good wickets taken and we hit some cracking shots too. Might have hoped to reach 200 but it wasn't to be. Not bad for a wee side though.
