There's been rumours of KOTOR3 for the last 3 years but nothings ever been confirmed by either LucasArts or Obsidian.
In fact the last I'd heard, it was supposed to be a collaberation between LucasArts and EA - Clickage

There was apparently two games in development - one was an MMO that was obviously going to be Star Wars based, and a direct sequal to the KOTOR 1 & 2 games.

I'm pretty sure I read a couple of years ago that Mass Effect originally started out as a KOTOR game before they decided to make it a stand-alone franchise.

I dont think Bioware or Obsidian would do another KOTOR for a while right now.
Doesnt SWTOR make it kind of obsolete?

Infinite Undiscovery was rubbish. Nowhere near as good as either of the KOTOR games.
Any opinions are not necessarily my own but those of the BBC.

Yeh it never opened any doors for infinite discovery, they are all typical JRPG similar to final fantasy, unless you meant it opened doors for you to play other RPG games.
Id not really class KOTOR as an RPG, more like an arcade adventure.

wouldnt you class things like final fantasy as a turn based rpg?

Yes, Final Fantasy is a turn based RPG, but there was lots of games similar to KOTOR when it came out, it didnt really change anything in the RPG genre, it just did what it did amazingly well with a brilliant script and game.
You know ive had Jade Empire sat in my pile of pc games for about a year now and not played more than half an hour, does it take a bit to get into like KOTOR and Mass Effect? Is it worth sticking with?

it can do to start with tho once you do get into them its hard to stop!
they relay quite heavily on interaction with other characters with your responces shifting your balance between good and bad. In the 2nd KOTR game it went one step further where you had to build up a level of trust with the characters in your squad/team whatever you want to call it. Always fun to complete it being being then being an evil buggar in the 2nd playthrough!

I completed KOTOR twice myself, once good and once evil (i saved at the dilemma where you switch from good to evil permenantly). KOTOR2 had too many bugs for me, so i got stuck half way and would have had to restart.

i enjoyed them both, tho playing kotr for the first time was brillant. I still love playing the old turn based numbers (playing through lost oddysey a 2nd time at the moment) but it was totally different and being able to use force powers and when you eventually got your lightsaber (s) was great
