I wonder if anyone can help with this.

I turned on FM2008 this morning, and loaded it in full screen as normal, but it looks different.

Instead of it normally taking up the whole screen, with a slightly lower resolution, which is the way I prefer it, it's now a much higher resolution with a large black border on all four sides. I can't find any settings to change this, and I've not changed anything on the PC.

I went to change the computer's resolution to a lower one, and that's doing the same. Keeping the actual resolution the same but making the view window smaller.

I've probably not explained this very well, but if someone can decipher what I'm on about, and can help, gimme a shout.

Cheers.

What you want is FM to be running in Windowed mode (can be found in the preferences under Display I think) then simply resize the window to be as big as you want it to be. When it runs in windowed mode, it uses the same resolution that your computer is currently set to.

Aye, but that's the thing. Even when I set the PC to a lower resolution, instead of making the fonts, etc, bigger, like it used to until today, it's now staying at the same resolution, only making the viewing screen smaller, with black borders around it.

Very weird.

I'll have a look around my FM08 tonight when I get home - I can't think what else there is in the options that would cause behaviour like that.

Sorted it, seems the 'aspect ratio' in the advanced settings changed by itself, so I've changed it back.

Ghosts in the machine 'n that.

Just watch that for the future and let me know as soon as it happens again. When computers start becoming self-aware, I'll be finding the nearest Cold War style garden bunker...
