Is anyone going to download this? They've released it as an arcade game but it still looks shit hot! £9.99 it'll be! :)

Oh aye, cheers for the quick delivery! :) That's me just managed to get the wraping off! :whistle

I bought it partly due to the fact the the other half wanted to play it, but when i ask her if she fancies playing a level or 2 the answer has been "Nah, i'm just going to watch Big Brother!"

We have played the first couple of levels and i think it's better than Indiana Jones or Star Wars - Probably due to the fact that i don't like the films!

I haven't got Battlefield 1943 but there seems to be a lot of people saying it's lagging heavily. Maybe it'll sort itself out after the initial scramble to download and play. The lag on Battlefield Bad Company was pathetic and made it almost unplayable online. I'll wait and see how 1943 pans out.

Whats the story with this? It says on the Inside Xbox bit of the live menu that you can download it but it's nowhere to be seen

Am loving this game. Planes take a bit of practice but it's really good fun. Could do with more than 3 islands though to stop any boredom.

Despite being rubbish at it (and it crashing a couple of times), I'm really enjoying this game.

Well worth the price.

Once the community reaches 43m kills a fourth island (Coral I think) is unlocked.
Will download as soon as I get some microsoft points as I've been on holiday.

Yeah, but I think that map is for the fighter planes only.

It is an absolutely cracking game though. Love it!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

Anyone got any tips for this game - and similar ones? I really enjoy it but I only ever seem to get a 1 or 2 kills and hardly any points. I think the most I've ever had was 150.

What are the best survival tactics and is there anyway of destroying a tank quickly? It takes me three bazooka shots before the fecker explodes.

I think Coral was just designed to be best for air combat but still has a large infantry part too it. Ofcourse, that's just a guess as we wont know until it's unlocked.

As for destroying tanks, if BF2 is anything to go on, shoot them from behind or the wheel tracks.

One thing I'm disappointed in is the lack of medic class. That was my thing in BF2 and would rack up most points helping my squad that way rather than killing the enemy.
I remember most of our side sittin on the cusp of a hill trying to take one of the bases (NE) on Wake Island and me just behind constantly healing and reviving team mates. We started to press down the hill a bit then the commander bombed the base. We all charged and picked our spots to grab the flag.
ne of the most epic assaults I've ever experienced in a video game. A true team effort.

Had a go of the trial game earlier. Quite hard! lol
Nothing like BF2/1942, though. My expectations are too high. :(

I annoyed some daft Yank bar steward last night. I've found that I'm quite good with the old anti air guns, I'm a bit of a dead shot with fighters and can do some serious damage to the bombers. The good thing is that I can get points but I rarely get killed - unless an enemy fighter pilot is switched on and targets me.

Anyway, this Yankee started shouting "you guys who are just using the anti air are losing us the freakin game". True enough but I didn't sign up to be cannon fodder, I like to stay safe on the aircraft carrier.

It's unlocked now (for the XBox at least) and it's air combat only. It's Ok but you usually have to wait ages for a plane!

I was mucking around with the AA earlier and was getting on fine but there weren't enough figheters about to shoot (maybe because there are trial only servers with few people?).

Anyway, one guy sitting in the AA is fine but it's when you get half your team fannying about at your base waiting on planes that ruin the game. That's what made me finally give up on BF2 as you got 20 guys sitting waiting for planes and helicopters and, if they didn't get in first, just blew it (and their teammates) up. Meanwhile, you are sitting with a couple guys holding back an avalanche of enemy troops at a tiny outpost with no hope of air, land or sea support. You have no chance and all you can hope for is a moment that you can make a run to safety.

My main aim in these games is to the obvious get as many kills as you can without dying with the odd suicide run as cannon fodder. I even remember this one mass evacuation of Gulf of Oman back to the aircraft carrier to regroup as we were getting hit so hard. To hold of the enemy and get a helicopter to come in and pick you up while watching the enemy roll in to the base you defended was pretty hard but quite epic at the same time.
f**k me that was a good game; memories are flooding back and I'm totally dragging the thread off topic.

Hopefully now that there's air superiority on Coral Sea for these arses to get their dogfighting done on, the number of people who lurk at the airfields/carriers waiting on planes the entire game will decrease as people get bored of it. It's a class game, though. Only achievement I don't have is Tour of Duty II.

The trial game is superb, I'll be buying enough points to get this game soon.

But I'm finding it near impossible to fly the planes

Just about to start playing again, if anyone fancies a game? tartanroo is the name, I'll be crashing a plane or cowering behind a wall being shot to bits by a tank!

[360 controls assumed]

Keep it in first person(up on the d-pad), and set the Y axis to inverted for planes. Practise on Coral Sea, too. Right stick is used for going up and down, and spinning, whereas the left stick is for steering right and left.

I'm pretty damned good at it. Got 17 kills on Coral Sea. B)

Really enjoying this game. One thing though is I always end up on the team where everybody is fighting ti get into a plane. Capture the bases for fucks sake.

Does anybody know if there are any more game modes being released like ctf, team death match etc?
