I wouldn't have thought so. Why not get it repaired and then trade it in after that?
its costing me 70 odd pound when all it needs is the dust cleaned out of it, the lights that flash tells me that its overheated but its just got a lot of dusk in it. i would dust it out myself but i dont know how to open up the console

inFamous bundle
This is a pretty good deal. inFamous is a brilliant game if you enjoy sandbox/superhero type games

We're considering getting a PS3 to take offshore with us.
Will the fact that I wont be able to connect it to the internet at all make any difference to being able to play single player games when out there?
Its just that on installing some games at home, the PS3 connects to the internet to 'patch' the game before I can even load it up.
Will this pose a problem?
Also, where would be the best place to get a cheap one?

You would not be able to download any updates for games but you don't need to install a patch if one comes up anyways.
It would not be a problem to play single player games either and most good games have a decent storyline to them eg. CoD, Resistance, inFamous. You will still be able to earn trophies aswell
You are probably best to look about the internet. The bundle I posted earlier with inFamous is good value but I am sure places like ShopTo and Argos might have good prices

I tried to open my one up to see what was up with it, I ended up breaking all the panel up the sides.
I've had 2 xbox's and they have both had the red lights, fortunately the second one was still in its warranty.

was already part of the blu ray movement! bought a blu ray compatible laptop at the start of the year.
bought the xbox and games. turns out to be a 60 gb! the games were:
gta iv
pes 2009
motor storm
turok
nhl 2k8
juiced 2
viking, battle for asgrad
far cry 2
pes 2008
prince of persia
saints row 2
sega mega drive ultimate collection
not bad for £250, quite satisfied with my lot considering i was looking at a console with too much memory and 2 games for £300.i'll probably buy fifa tomorrow and order ufc as its half price on play
ive sat up all night gaming
