Anyone know if Wimbledon's going to be on the Beeb's HD channel? Or is that still reserved for more shite costume dramas that no-one watches?

Yes it is in HD, although it won't be interactive & just the main BBC coverage.

British players in years gone by have come unstuck against the French at Wimbledon. Jeremy Bates' nemesis was Guy Forget, whilst Henman struggled against Pioline. Then remember last year as Murray went two sets down to Gasquet before coming back, which ultimately sapped all his energy for his q-f against Nadal.

With that in mind, my main concern for Andy this year is Gilles Simon.

Simon has been shit this year, absolute gash. I don't agree Murray was beat by Nadal due to tiredness, it was due to be being a. pussy whipped by Nadal's return of serve & b. incapable of getting first serve percentage anywhere near where it needed to be. I'm Murray's biggest fan, but Nadal just horsed the guy in the qf last year.

Like watching potential second round opponent Troicki serve, something strange with his action, like a disabled dwarf swatting a fly with a tennis racket. Murray horsed him in one of his masters runs earlier in the year, it was pretty embarrassing for the guy.

Bet365 are covering Wimbledon this year, Robbie Koenig is the guy they use, he is quality. I had thought that was syndicated from Sky, but could be wrong on that.

Too bad for Rafa. But I reckon his body will disintegrate way before his time anyway.

Hopefully he is just being sensible and the rest will help sort him out.

Murray's on a hiding to nothing with all the expectation on him this year. I wouldn't be surprised if he was knocked out before the quarters although I agree that he should be aiming for the semi-finals at least. I hope he reaches the final.

Let's hope he's used to the rising hopes for him year after year.

He will get used to it. Wimbledon is a bit of a special event in that folk that probably never look at another tennis match all year suddenly get interested in the game. The hype in this country will be massive and I'm sure he's well aware of it.

I think he will just go out and play his game. A game that seems well suited to despatching "lesser players" on a pretty regular basis now. He seems to play to a high enough level regularly to get deep into most tournaments he plays in these days.

I'm still disappointed Monflis isn't playing :(

I have a pound on Safin at 200/1 as my outsider

and a tenner on Sharpova at 6/1 seems good odds despite her injury.

Personally I can't see Murray winning it I think he'll buckle under the pressure.

Looking at the draw, Murray has an absoloutley excellent chance at the final. Hewwit is always dangerous and i have a feeling we could see him in the semi. Blake's playing well just now and Murray could meet him in the quarters. But Murray has enough to beat those two i think.

Would be great to see him in the final against Federer, don't think he will have enough against the greatest though.

Blake doesn't have the mental toughness for 5-setters, hence his woeful record in Grand Slams.

Murray no longer has Blake to contend with either. The re-jigging of the draw following Nadal's withdrawal has seen Blake switch to the bottom half.

Probably ran out of rackets.

Safin is mental on the court and potentially brilliant if it clicks for him. He was always good to watch.

3 pages and the annual mention of Uncle Bulgaria is still missing.

Disappointing people, disappointing.

Very much looking forward to Wimbledon this year, especially now that Nadal is out. Hopefully Murray can silence those that still think he can only beat Federer in the 'lesser' tournaments.

Yep. If he gets beaten it will be because the other bloke played out his skin to do it.

Just re checked my slip, Sharpova is 9/1 seems great odds despite her still being on the comeback.

Caldwell is actually a great centre half however consistency can be an issue for him, technically his distribution of the ball for a defender is as good as Pique or Puyol.
