Who monitors wikipedia? I've been looking up a few things lately, and to be honest, I think it's primary school kids that are doing the "fact finding". Either that, or it's just people being malicious.

Here's a quote from wikipedia's Kincaidston.

http://en.wikipedia....iki/Kincaidston

Quote

. Mainly english, Irish and locals from way back, a few red indians have recently moved into the area and some polish and americans, the americans often seen preaching the word of god.

Have you read any "Unbelievable" entries?

What an idiotic scarf seller deems worthy of printing on a scarf and what a supporter actually thinks are often very far apart.

I would be very surprised if he sold/sells any of those half Celtic/half Killie monstrosities.

I read one a while back about Jose Quitongo that said he once ate the head of Gerry Britton's dad, which I thought was amusing. It's been fixed since.

The Sun did a piece on that a few months ago to test how quick their mods are at fixing bullshit entries. The best one they come up with was that Darius Danesh, he of Popstars, was the only contestant on Celebrity Mastermind to win by choosing himself as the specialist subject
"Hello. I'm the Doctor. Basically... run. "

In July 1977, Marley was found to have acral lentiginous melanoma, a form of malignant melanoma, in a football wound - according to widely held urban legend, inflicted by broadcaster and pundit Danny Baker[20] - on his right big toe.

Danny Baker Killed Bob Marley

Worst of all it has a source.

Another quote from that link. Incredible.

Quote

Are some real uneducated people who let the estate down because it is actually much better than most eststes on west coast, are quite a few famous people living underground on the estate and also several reporters for major news papers altogther its sad that some individuals who dislike anyone from outside, continue to try and bring the name of the estate down. The people of kincaidston should stand up and be counted in Ayr,

Jose Quitongo's Wiki page said the following things at one point;

"Quitongo's dad was mauled by a lion in his native Angola"

"Quitongo's dad was mauled by a pack of sheer in his native Angola"

"Quitongo's dad was mauled by Gerry Britton"

I believe it has been fixed now though.

Deary me... I think you've totally missed the point. It's not meant to be monitored.

btw, as a resource, Wiki is still a decent source for mainstream items (ie: the speed of light, or who discovered America, etc).

His father was eaten by a dog
His father was eaten by Jeremy Beadle (think that was Fudge that put that  )

Someone has put me as a famous fan on the Partick Thistle wikipedia page.

That's why it shouldn't be trusted.

I like the fact we're told not to quote from wiki in lab reports and the like but the lab manual and the demonstrators quote from it all the time. Useful for finding out properties of stuff quickly and usng the references they give you though.
