My heart just sank when i read that. One of the best Centre Backs ive seen come up against Arbroath when he was at Albion Rovers and Dumbarton. Always wished he would come an Arbroath player as he was just superb. Dont think ill ever see another awesome CB like him play in the 2nd or 3rd division level again. Gutted.

RIP Mate.

Well said and nothing to add.

Champions of Division 3 2010-2011, well chuffed!

When is the last time YOUR team won at IBROX in the league verses the treble winners?!

To be called a idiot from other idiots is hardly an insult, it is just an observation from ones who know too little.

Was totally gobsmacked when I read of this in the paper today. Never knew the lad or even saw him play but from reports he was a class act and one who would have stood out in Division Two this year. Terrible, terrible news and there's nothing more to say than Rest In Peace Gordon :(

Sad news. I watched him with interest on the few occasions he played against us, as he was linked with a move to us before signing for Partick. Seemed a decent defender, and sounds like he was a top bloke from what people are saying on here.

Absolutly gutted at this new a true gentle man of the game has been taken so tragically. I was privilaged to be on the open top bus with the players and and saw the smiles on all there faces for what they had acheived this season and to have big gordon taken at such an early age is terrible I'm sure he would have led the club to more success next season.

my condolances go out to all family and close friends for there loss he was a true gentle man and will be sadly missed at the ROCK.

RIP GORDON LENNON gone but not forgoten.

Hopefuly something can be aranged in memeory of him.

Heard the news this morning. Absolutely gutted for his family, friends and everyone connected to the club.

He was a very good player, solid in the air and always came across as a commited professional. He was brilliant with the fans both in the aftermath of winning the league at Annan, and then with the fans at SHS during the celebrations. Nothing was to much trouble for him that night. He was quoted as saying the achievements of the team this season had been his greatest moment in football.

He leaves a partner and newborn child.

I dont know what else to say. Gutted. RIP.

I'm still in shock but would like to pass on my condolences to Gordon's family and to those who knew him. It's tragic that he has left a young baby and girlfriend and my heart goes out to them especially.

To echo what Jordo said, at Annan Gordon Lennon proved to be a class act, he posed for photos with the fans, let us hold the trophy probably longer than he got holding it and let everybody share in what was his big moment. That speaks volumes for the guy who will go down in history as a Sons legend having captained the team to their first trophy in 17 years. Although he has been taken far far far too soon, it's fitting that his last moment in a Dumbarton shirt was lifting the 3rd division trophy and the moment has been recorded on Sons TV for everybody to see his proudest moment as a footballer.

I'm sure that the club will do it anyway, but I would like to see some memorial fundraising event(s) for Gordons family who have been left, perhaps a wee tournament involving all of his previous clubs and the players who played with him, with all the proceeds going to his family?

Very bad news for all concerned. Anyone who pulls on the Jags strip is a personal hero of mine,so although his Jags career was short, he will be missed.

This is utterly devastating news. The calibre and class of Gordon Lennon cannot be understated - he was a superb captain, born leader, and a great man. These events are beyond cruel. My thoughts and condolences are with his young family at this time.

R.I.P big man.

Posted on the thread in our forum, but will post here too. Absolutely shocking tragedy, and absolutely devastating not only for the fact he was a talented young football player, but for the fact he had a young family. Pars fans can empathise losing a player in such tragic, almost unbelievable circumstances. Absolutely terrible.

My personal condolonces, and I'm sure everyone else involved in Scottish football go out to his family, friends and all at Dumbarton FC at this terrible time. So so sad.
For we're the Pars, Dunfermline Athletic,
And now we are on song,
For we're the Pars, Dunfermline Athletic,
And we'll go marching on.

I knew Gordon Personally for the last 7 years and all I feel is numbness right now, he was one of the nicest guy's I have ever met an absolute gentleman! All that mattered to him was his family and his football. He will be sorely missed and I hope dumbarton have some sort of benefit match to help provide for the young family he has left behind.
My thoughts go out to his girlfriend son and family at this terrible time for them.

There's been talk on our forum of maybe our friendly with Dumbarton being a tribute match, with the money being given to the family.

I'd imagine we'd take 1000 to that at least, and then you'd get Stenny/Albion Rovers fans coming along, as well as neutrals.

Went to college with Guido for 2 years before he got seriously into his football & kept in touch with him ever since. Couldn't meet a nicer guy, always having a laugh and a joke, usually at my expense.

I'm just totally numb...my heart goes out to his family, they must be going through hell.

RIP mate.

Absolutely unbelievable news and like many of you, I couldn't believe what I was reading. I thought he was one of the best defenders in Division Three and he was a genuinely nice guy to boot, having spoke to him on a few occasions.

My thoughts are with his family, friends and all those at Dumbarton FC as well as those that played with him at Albion and Stenny also.

A real class act when he played against us for Albion Rovers. After it not working out for him at Thistle it really looked like he was getting himself back on track leading Dumbarton to the 2nd.

The fact he has not that long been a father makes it even more tragic

RIP Gordon
