They need a seperate group of one day selectors.

They certainly need to change something. For example, James Foster is an excellent wicketkeeper but he's not the greatest batsman. Would England have been better sticking with Prior? Sure he might have conceded a few more runs behind the stumps but then he probably would've scored a lot more himself.

Also, the situation with Mascheranas puzzles me. He was the only English player who competed with any distinction in the IPL yet was never given much of a chance in this tournament.

We could go on all day. Picking Rob Key despite him having a terrible season with the bat. Picking Napier then not giving him a chance.......

.....just the wrong team - take Rashid out of the starting XI and it was the Test team, there is no point in bringing Napier and Key and then not playing them whilst persisting with Shah and Wright.

Where were Alistair Cook, Andrew Strauss and Andrew Flintoff then? (Alright Flintoff is injured and would have played if he was fit but still, it's hardly 10/11ths of the test side is it?). Foster isn't the test keeper either.

The twenty20 team tends to be made up of players that excel in the wee format of the game. Like Shengus says Prior could have probably added a bit of beef to the middle order.

Even with Foster in as wicket keeper I still think they could have found room for Prior solely as a batsman.

I know that, that was my point. I was responding to the suggestion that England fielded their test team plus Rashid in it.

That was a shock.
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better. I've been drowning too long to believe that the tide is going to turn. And I've been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now. I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned. And if I see Van Helsing, I swear to the lord I will slay him. AHA HA HA. He take you from me but I swear I won't let it be so. AHA HA HA. Blood, will run done his face, when he is decapitated AH! His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know...how much I love you.

 Tremendous.

I quite like the BBC's web text update thing. There's some good witty stuff on there.

Re the game: Not in the slightest surprised Pakistan won. Although it was a comparatively boring way for the saffers to blow it. Well in comparison to the Allan Donald run out years ago, that is forever etched on my mind.

A turd of such epic proportions it has to be released in three installments. The first can stand on its own as a complete adventure. The second links to the first, but has a dark, inconclusive feel generating an air of foreboding and leaving itself wide open for an unknown ending. The final chapter has drama, excitement and moments where you think all is lost. A grand battle is waged where good overcomes evil and peace is restored in your gut.

Think the Sri Lankans are going to win it now. Should be a good game tommorow though, the windies will give them a good match.

That was brilliant, but possibly even funnier was Boucher misinterpreting the D/L chart in the 2003 world cup, and blocking the last ball when a single would have taken them through.

Or the 1992 semi where the pre D/L rain rules reduced the equation from 22 off 13 to 21 off 1 following a cloudburst.

Would like to see Sri Lanka win it- the Windies are totally unpredictable though.

West Indies were destroyed.

All out for 101.

Gayle got 63 of them and was let down badly by his team mates. The next highest run's score was extras

Watching the highlights, horrific batting from everyone other than Gayle.

Although Sri Lanka bowled well the Windies must have thought WTF when they found themselves 1-3 with all 3 wickets being self inflicted edge-outs

The final was a bit of a damp squib. There wasn't much in the way of spectacular cricket. Well played to Pakistan though. If you told me after the England game that they would be the champions I would've been on the phone trying to get you sectioned.
