Aye, it's always been an unstable sport which seems to have a habit of shooting itself in the foot. Clubs come and go as well, great names from the past like Durham Wasps and Streatham Redskins are just a fading memory.

The Redskins still exist actually, in the English league.

Bad Ice Hockey is hard to watch. I saw some games in Germany recently and the standard was rubbish.

Having said that, there are plenty goals in British ice hockey as teams tend to place more emphasis on attack and import goalscorers rather than defencemen.

I don't think I'd fancy watching an NHL game that finished 2-1. Technically brilliant yes, but it would be a bore.

Any sport played badly is most likely to be hard to watch. Watching lower league Scottish football is one obvious indication of this! :P

It is just rather frustrating. It seemed in Germany that they got all the washed up Canadian players and the skill level was atrocious. There are plenty of goals, but they are very frustrating as the defencemen are rubbish.

I must say though that Glühwein and Hockey are a match made in heaven. :)

In our racing stripes, we rejoice at being "connected"
Without touching, thank god for the internet
We stare at our screens, all our lives, what a waste of eyes
'Till the electrical storm blows our fuses
And we gaze, dumbfounded, at the rain

Aussie Rules football.

Although there was an international championship in Melbourne last year and the UK had a team.

Some cracking scores and teams in it, stuff like China 0.0 Tonga 2.1 !!!!!

Not a bad sport to go and watch live although a full MCG sounds like Stair park v Arbroath on a Tuesday night!

Pretty big in Oz as well, highlights from the playoffs are on the sports news every night.

Was massive back in the 90's over here, but the admin ran it into the ground. There has been an overhaul for the new season, so hopefully it gets things back on track.

Is there any AFL leagues over in the UK?

It's not massive here as most people in this country are lazy jessies but go to any of the good spots and you can see it has a small but fairly enthusiastic following. Thurso hosts the main competitive event and has some of the best surf in Europe. Machrahanish on the Mull of Kintyre and a number of spots on the hebrides also see a lot of surfers. Lunan bay and North Berwick area are good on the East coast.

There are a lot of windsurfers and kite surfers as well. Tiree, Troon, Helensburgh, Gullane are the most common spots.
