Totally agree.

Murray has earned an extension and we should be looking at giving him another 2 years. This should be the catalyst for starting the negotiations with the rest of the squad. We have a number of players who could play at a higher level and it's important we secure them so at least if they do go, it's not for nothing.

Our cup performances over the past few years (inc this one) should mean we are as able to offer financial deals in this league comparable with anyone. As has been rightly pointed out, there should be decent money available next season too even if we fail to get promoted.

I'm sure the board are aware of this though! Not panicking yet :)

Spooky.

Great news re the contract extensions. Totally deserved and if Murray keeps developing us at the rate already achieved he could be hot property come 2016.

Next step is to see some of the key squad members signed up for a bit longer.

In Murray I trust!

Why a striker we have 3

If we were to sign anyone it would need to be temp cover at the back while Watson is out

I think what he meant to say was

We need a poacher..

Someone who stands up there constantly and is gonna score goals for fun as soon as you get the ball to him...a bit like graham was like last year!

To be fair that is a waste of money. We have 3 strikers who all have a decent tally so far this season and id rather the goals are spread like that than be reliant on one player to score the goals. Any players brought in should be in other positions ie defensive cover

Agreed, just get Spence back on form. Elliot has been great for us, and while I'm not a big fan of Smith yet, he has weighed in with a few crucial goals.

The other reason I'm not keen is that it would probably push Vaughan further down the pecking order, and I want to see more of him.

Tbh I'm glad we've moved away from the one-player to stick it in the back of the net tactic that worked so well last season. The current team are far more entertaining. Obviously it's be great if we had all our forwards firing on full cylinders but I'm happy if we keep going as we are.

Exactly seems to be when one player's form dips someone else takes the mantle, Elliot has been banging in the goals recently, before that Smith found his touch and prior to that Spence had a great start to the season

Besides we don't exactly have the money to throw around to bolster a position we are pretty much covered in

All 3 players have shown they can score goals and all have different attributes. If things aren't working we have other players to turn to. We can't compete with the midfield strength that Dundee has and they have been lucky with keeping their strikers fit and they are scoring goals. Hamilton now have the money to bolter their squad in the window if they choose. I said at the start of the season we should be aiming for the playoffs and we are still going the right way about it and still in touching distance of the 2 teams above us

Tho Elliot has shown in recent games he has the quality to step up when he needs to, I dont know where we would get such a striker from anyway it would need to be a loan signing and even then that would probably be a younger player which is kind of pointless when we have quality young players for the first time in an age making steps to force their way into the first team
