Pure honking start for the red sox, after the angels guy died though, we were always on a hiding to nothing last night.

To be honest, I doubt even the Red Sox had much of an appetite for that game, an I doubt anyone at all would have had the score any other way.

Phillies have started poorly aswell. Braves are ticking along nicely though as are the Marlins with Ramirez running theshow.

The Angels whole season will be dedicated to there deceased player,as it should be. The pennant would be a more than fitting tribute.

Well they captured the boat but let every one escape apart from the captain. So then Obama sent a big ship, but they took a long time and then when they got there the captives had paid the ransom. Then the pirates captured another boat, and put all the crew from the first ship on that and sailed off on the first ship with lots of treasure, which for some reason they buried on an island in the South Pacific. Or so I believe.

Cubs and Brewers play 1am but plan on watching the replay tommorow afternoon on Espn America.

Was able to catch the Mets-Marlins matchup before I headed to work. Both Starting Pitchers were outstanding. Santana striking out 13 in 8 innings. Both runs were scored on an error from Murphy in left field when he misjudged a fly ball.

Johnson threw a complete game for the Marlins, only giving up 1 run which came in the 9th.

Mariners and Padres continued there surprise early season form with wins over the Athletics and Giants.

Are the Nationals gonna be the worse team in the majors this year? Things ain't started to brightly.

Atlanta's bullpen walked four batters with the bases loaded against Philadelphia earlier this week. ;)

I think it's the only opening week of less merit or influence than the first week of the football season. Nobody pitches particularly well, bats are slow, nobody really sets their stall out for the rest of the season. A team can go 0-7 to start off and it doesn't alter their chances of winning the division at all. But it's baseball, and I hate the baseball off season, so I'm not going to grumble too much. Opening day is always great, and the first dingers by any given player is always exciting.

Yeah agree with everything you say, don't see the 0-6 Nationals winning division though haha.

Most notably for me though is that both Cy Young winners last year (Linecum and Lee) are both struggling badly.

But they aren't though. They aren't struggling. They have just started slowly. Whether that is to do with mechanics or the weather or something else, but there is no reason at all to be even slightly concerned about those two, or CC Sabathia, or anyone else slow out of the trap.

The Nationals are putrid, I'll grant you that. And the thing is, they'll only waste their draft pick like they did last year.

In the end nobody. They took Aaron Crow, the pitcher from Mississippi or Missouri I think, but they didn't agree a signing on fee so he went back to college.

Sad news, Philadelphia Phillies legendary broadcaster Harry Kalas collapsed in the broadcast booth earlier today and was pronounced dead a short time later. A true legend in Phillies and MLB history.

Nah - no chance. They are going to take Strasburg and pay him whatever he wants. They need someone to jumpstart the team, and he will be it.

I actually think the Nats are better than the 0-7 start- they have had a horrid schedule so far. A very good Marlins team, a very good Braves team, and the reigning world champs. THey have a good hitting team - with Guzman, Zimmerman, Johnson all capable of hitting the ball - and you know you are going to get 40HR, 100RBI and about a .350-.400 OBP from Dunn. A pitching staff, and they would be a good team - and getting Strasburg is what they are going to do, no matter the cost (or else it could be the beginning of the end for the Nats)

Was just about to mention that, and a 3rd baseball guy in Pitcher Mark Fidrych (tigers) also died - not a good week in baseball in this way.

Just watching opening day in the Mets new stadium - have to say it looks a great stadium.
