Just going back to Elgin's recent trialists, I was reading on the Highland site that Nairn County's Steve Edwards has played 2 games for them...

Read in one of the local papers up here that Edwards has signed for Elgin for next season. They were keen to get him in immediately though so he has gone on loan to Elgin till the end of the season.

I'd have thought he'd have to have signed (even just for the game) as trialists cannot play cup ties.

He may have signed amatuer forms, I'm not to sure. Our OS has deleted all articles from the time. Someone else may know...

Had heard that's what happened. He'd become third choice at QP, and Thistle needed a sub keeper for that game. Seeing as both managers have a good relationship I assume that he got released then signed amateur for Thistle. Think Murray is now at Irvine Victoria but does some coaching at QP also. This could all be total rubbish though.

I'm pretty sure that he hadn't actually signed for us this season so there was no need for him to be released, and I think one of the coaches at Thistle knew Scott from his Dundee days and when they realised they needed a back up keeper he got in touch with Scott without realising that he was still training with Queen's.

You're right about his current side, and he's in at Lesser Hampden most Saturday mornings doing the community coaching, but I don't think he's playing just now as he's got a problem with his knee that may require an operation.

Did Scott not also turn out for Camelon at the start of this season?

Not sure, if I see him this Saturday I'll ask him.

Checked yesterday, he played against Auchinleck Talbot and Largs at the start of this season.

Grazie, he was also on the bench for at least one competitive game which is where I picked the name up from (Bo'ness 9/8/08 in particular).

OK - new season, same old nonsense.

I calculated 7 trialists this weekend, if you can help fill in the blanks, I'd be grateful.

1 - Airdrie sub - Kevin McCann apparently.

2 - Unused Airdrie sub

3 - Peterhead starter - Zander Sutherland apparently.

4 - Clyde starter - (?) McLachlan ?

5 - Elgin sub, came on in 50 minutes for Allan Dempsie.

6 - Stranraer unused sub - Mark Reid?

7 - Albion rovers unused sub - Chris Fahey?

Thankee.

Yeah, Ryan not Kevin, according to the first division board on here too. He's the one who scored from 75 yards or so for QotS against Dundee in the cup a couple of seasons back.

Which would mean it's just the Airdrie sub yet to be named. Going by something said on the AUFC website they were going to take a few U19s up with them, possibly one of them wasn't registered.

Yes, Willie McLachlan - ex-Rangers and Airdrie defender was apparently a trialist on Saturday.
What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No. I go for the chandelier - it's priceless. As I'm taking it down a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say 'no'. We make love all night. In the morning the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting: I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris, by the Trocadero - she's been waiting for me all these years; she's never taken another lover. I don't care, I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stash the chandelier.

Stranraer's was Mark Reid. The team sheet had that as the case, but just trialist for Albion Rovers.

Stranraer website has Chris Fahey as the Rovers trialist keeper.

Any info on who Mark Reid is? Obviously with Ryan Marshall out long term, Stranraer will likely sign a keeper.

There's a keeper local to you in Livingston of that name. I was wondering if he was a pal of McGrath?

Could be, I know he was along training with them, which could explain that.

Who, the Livingston-area Mark Reid was training with them?

Rovers trialist was Chris Fahey.

Our trialist Mark Reid is the same keeper that played at Pumpherston Juniors. He has returned to training and looking to play again after taking last season out.

He had joined Pumpherston from The Tower Amateurs during 2007-08, and just a quick google suggests he may have gone back there last season?
