Ok, most trialists are usually named as a trialist because they're not up to much, or perhaps because the paperwork to sign them was unable to be completed, but this thread is to name the ones that have appeared in line-ups.

This is mainly for players who have made an appearance for a Scottish League side as a trialist (date of game and opponent would be helpful) but other contributions welcome.

Do you want us to specify games? Or just whether they've appeared this season?

Probably games. I'll edit the above accordingly but it was more for the stattos out there trying to track SFL appearances.

Junior appearances welcome as well though.

There were a number of trialists used over the weekend.

East Fife v Stranraer: I have some info on this but still lack a first name.
Berwick Rangers v Elgin City: unknown
Albion Rovers v Montrose: Jamie McKenzie was listed for the 4th game in a row - has he now signed for Montrose?
Stenhousemuir v Forfar: Alan Reid I believe

Dunno if its what you're looking for but Charles-Edouard Coridon played a pre-season against spurs as a trialist in, I think, 2004. Seem to remember him scoring an absolute beauty for PSG in the champions league the next season aswell

Also, Hitzelsperger played in a German pre-season tour before he went to Villa and I think Chic Charnley was on "trial" when he played a testimonial despite him being with thistle. Jags fans might know better than I do.

I think I'm mainly after current appearances in the Scottish League but any info is always welcome.

I think you are already aware which Junior keeper sat on our bench v Partick Thistle as an unused sub trialist this season.

Yeah, helpfully even with someone unsure and quoting the wrong name (i.e. Ryan Goggs) I was able to work it out, though unused appearances are less of a concern other than nosiness as they're not officially recorded in the way that appearances are. The unnamed goalie is very good.

i usually just rely on the Sky Sports Yearbook etc for names of trialists but I've tried to track it myself this season.

Dan Smith played three games as a trialist for us at the start of the season (away to Morton and Partick, home to Dunfermline) and he really does deserve to be shamed as he was dreadful. He now plys his trade with Gateshead I believe.
Fascists against Beatson.

I saw desperate Dan play for Aberdeen against Queen's Park. There are better left backs in the Juniors and that is no exaggeration. We've got two of them (Shaun Dillon / Chris Cruickshank)!

IIRC Morton's trialists so far this season have been:

Alan Reid: v Clyde 2.8.08 (used sub 74 mins)
Alan Reid v Airdrie Utd 30.8.08 (used sub 40 mins)

Rhian Dodds v St Johnstone 31.1.09 (unused sub).

Hope that helps. :)

Alex Williams played 3 games for Clyde as a trialist against Dundee, St. Johnstone and Hamilton in December 2006. Keith Shevlin sat on the bench as a trialist in the opening game of the 2006-07 season against St. Johnstone.

Last season, Marvyn Wilson appeared as a trialist in the first game of the season against Morton before being signed. David Thomson also sat on the bench in the same game before signing a short term deal.
Let's go, let's go, let's go Filip Mentel.

If there's a trialist goalkeeper in the third division, it's almost always Barry Thompson. He's god awful and has made a career of going on emergency trials for years.

We've had two trialists this season.

Winger Chris Hamilton appeared as a trialist back in August against East Fife in the 1-1 draw. He went on to sign for us.

A week later, former Motherwell midfielder Shaun Fagan came off the bench at Stranraer and was anonymus enough to warrant us not signing him. I believe he signed for Clyde, and is now at East Fife.

From what i remember we had a few in pre season. From what i can see on our official site.

David Gormley(who we signed)
David Bagan-played v Rangers,Partick
Lloyd Murphy-Played and scored against Partick
Brian McEwan(ex Killie and Celtic)Played v Partick
Jamie Dunbar(Eddlewood Ams)
David Thomson(Sauchie gk)played v Queen of the South in the 2nd half

Can't think if we've had any trialists for league games though.

Pelosi - you've already got. Came in as Trialist as cover.

Marvin Andrews - played as a Trialist a couple of weeks ago against EF (again) and has subsequently signed.

Steven Weir - Played a few pre-season games for us as trialist. Now signed for Arbroath.

Cheers BTU, I know he never played a game but did Dingwall ever sign for Berwick? He'd been on the bench a week or two before against Albion Rovers as well?

You could have done a damn sight worsethan sign Joe. Stick him in the gym and he'd have done a job.

Jamie,

Its Darren Hogan - has been with Broomhouse Ams this season.

By the way, I'd forgotten about the other info I promised you. I'll do it early next week for you and send it on.

Cheers
