Highest Attendances For Ayrshire Derbies

The recent Scottish Cup tie saw 9,280 at Somerset and 11,563 at the RP replay. The three previous encounters were over 10,000, over 9,000 ( both Scottish Cup) and over 7,000 for a League Cup tie all in the late 90's early 2000's. I think a RP SC game earlier in the 90's had over 12,000 but I'm not too sure. A First Division game in Jan 1988 had 8,500.

Does anyone have a record of the highest attendances at Ayrshire Derbies for the Old first Division, The Premier League, the new(ish) First Division, Scottish Cup and League Cup or variants of it?

The all time record attendance at an Ayrshire derby is 27,442. That was for a Scottish Cup quarter-final at Rugby Park on 19th March 1938. The record Somerset Park attendance at an Ayrshire derby was for the replay of that tie on the Wednesday afternoon of 23rd March 1938. The gates were closed with 23,785 inside.

any confirmation of this attendance anywhere?

i was just having a look around the net wondering if Saturdays game could possibly be the highest attendance ever at an Ayrshire Derby!

Any Ayrshire Junior derbies approaching these figures?
Given that a SJFA Cup Final attracted over 70,000 in the fifties it is possible!
The score remains 4-1 and counting...

Attendance at Junior Cup Final between Irvine Meadow and Glenafton in 1963 was 21,384.
